Anyone here use this? Looks nifty, just curious how it performs in use.

i have the 24d and i don't believe there is a better sounding interface under a grand -- on par with 896mk2 or FireFace.

make sure you check the site for known issues.

apperently, there are still some problems with it AFTER the version 2 update.

Just seems to me that 1500 bones is allot for something they "know" they have problems with.

It's a nice looking unit though, maybe it will indeed become the new standard.

the version 2 update is for the entire series -- it's not like they've made 2 full revisions of software just for it. and having the audio pop when instantiating a plugin is hardly a deal breaker for most people.

Edit/clarification:
entire series = Konnekt 8, Konnekt 24D, Konnekt Live, Konnekt 48, the digital32, etc. -- Konnekt 24D came out in 2006 some time

I was under the impression the model in question was very recently released.

yes, you are correct -- that's why i posted that clarification.

the version 2 software is not specifically for the Konnekt48, but for the entire Konnekt family, which is nearly 2 years old. the 'issue' in 2.0.1 with the K48 is that it might glitch when you instantiate one of the internal plugins. K24, K6, KLive and K48 have onboard DSP (zero-latency, no cpu load). the k24, which i have, has a compressor and a reverb. the k6 has some other reverb engine. the K48 i think has 'all of the above'.

so, yes: they're still smoothing out bugs, but the issue they're talking about would only come up if one were tracking or using it in a live sound setting and suddenly decided to add a compressor or reverb to a channel.

is it pricey? yes and no. the sound quality on my K24 is amazing. i've never heard anything under a grand sound this good. and it's not a 'golden ears' thing. even a casual listener can tell when it's a/b'd with, say, any m-audio interface, the alesis io14, an 828, a firebox.

So: the K48 is more in line with a FireFace or 896HD which are in the $1000 range. I don't know that i'd choose the K48 over an RME solution, or if i'd spend a bit more for Apogee. But i don't think it's overpriced based on my being blown away by the K24.
