Is there any way of setting up my midi keyboard controller to work this synth. I have the Korg MS-20 controller - some of the knobs control some knobs but is there a way of assigning?
Thanks

Hi all,
First, rekkerd.org has given Cymbiant its own page:
http://rekkerd.org/osiris-cymbiant/
Updates & presets can be downloaded there.
Goo turned into Cymbiant, when I figured out what I wanted & made sure it wouldn't kill my CPU (Cymbiant is recommended for 2 Ghz processor or higher).
New skins are on the way.
I don't know if the Access Violation is an issue solely with Energy XT. Anyone else have that problem? I know this works in Sonar, Orion Platinum & VSTHost.
As far as assignable midi, Cymbiant does have midi in, but the assigns are done in SE. After it's locked & saved I don't know if you can assign your own midi. Try it & let me know if it works.
Cheers,

Just a smidge of an update. I made some new presets, made the lettering on the GUI a little easier to read & smoothed the volume of the supasaw oscillator a little. Murky's made a new preset bank with all his old presets in one convienant .fxb and added seven lovely new ones. Check out CutThruLead and MoogGirlLead. Should have a download link any second.

Hi all,
Just a note: I duplicated the error that Paulie Phonick mentioned yesterday exactly. Happened in Orion Platinum with the same module. It ONLY happened with 2 instances of the plugin. One Cymbiant--no problems. I read on the SE boards that this was happening in SE itself & Jeff had to debug the SE code. A possible work around which I haven't tried, would be to turn off the Chorus modules before saving. Just don't forget to turn them back on, because the chorus makes the synth. I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this? I've contacted the developer of the Chorus plug-in (Attila Fustos) & told him about the error. Hopefully, he'll contact me soon. And don't forget to download Murky's new presets at the link above.

Hi Everyone,
I have posted a new demo song called "Cymbiant Mode" at:
www.michaelkline.net/synths.html
All of the sounds are from Cymbiant. I made some percussion patches and tweaked a few others and then added effects (eq, reverb, the usual). There is no truth to the rumor that I dressed all in black and wore sun-glasses while recording it.

Nope, I'm afraid this doesn't fix the problem. I've just tried it with two instances, switched chorus off on both, closed energyXT and got the same exception. It's not surprising as it looks like a deallocation problem in the chorus module, which is very unlikely to dependend on plugin settings.osiris wrote:A possible work around which I haven't tried, would be to turn off the Chorus modules before saving.
As far as host dependence goes, I'd bet that the problem will only be visible in hosts that don't handle the exception.
That's your best bet, he should be the right person to remove a static declaration somewhere to fix itosiris wrote:I've contacted the developer of the Chorus plug-in (Attila Fustos) & told him about the error.
Now for some fun with Murky's new presets (thanks!).

The only other thing I can think of is, I did dedicated midi assigns on the chorus. I'll take them off to see if that fixes the probby. I tried to make my own chorus, but gave up. I should re-try, because it took a month, but I finally made the supasaw on my own.

Regarding VSTHost: if you have the latest version, you can start it with the command line parameters /noft /noexc - in this mode, any exception will cause VSTHost to die an immediate and horrible death.osiris wrote:I don't know if the Access Violation is an issue solely with Energy XT. But then why would you do that? Can you load more than one plug in to VSTHost? This only happens when you have 2 Cymbiants running. Murky's trying to duplicate this error in Sonar. We'll see what happens. I have seen some other interesting things I will try in version 2, including a Chorus/Ensembler module. Can't wait to get home to try it out. Also, I'm bound & determined to make my 'Oberheim' type chorus.
Happy weekend everybody.

Hi all,
Newsflash: Murky has completed a new .fxb for Cymbiant 1.0a. 48 presets in all including the old ones and some great new ones. You'll find leads, pads, basses, sfx, & percussion sounds. Check out the deep, dark BassPad.
Download here:
http://rekkerd.org/osiris-cymbiant/
Totolitoto has created a spectacular skin for the upcoming version 2.0. Check it out here:

Would love any thoughts/opinions.
Still trying to resolve conflict issues when loading and saving 2 or more Cymbiants. I believe it is in the midi in. For now, best to load only one instance of Cymbiant. All apologies.
Cheers,
Osiris

Nice idea for the GUI, but the knobs and sliders are way too small compared to the green backgroud. They seem lost. Needs some tweaking, but fine.

Sorry T,
I should have asked permission first, but I did want to get feedback and show this bombshell to the rest of the world. I think the GUI is superlative and I'm very proud and flattered Totolitoto offered to do it in the first place. Of course, this is not the finished product-just a concept. My bad!!
