I just went through the demo mp3s and read the manual. I also checked out the site. Well, it sounds pretty interesting. It looks like your basic analog synth, except that I'm intrigued by what they have to say about their approach to making this instrument. Their thoughts behind "badass" and "groove" and the little things that might make it unique. I think I'm going to try it out later.

Might be a very interesting addition, even if you already have a few other items.

It's also very cool that you can download the demo and it's completely unrestricted, which gives you a chance to really take it through its paces. That alone makes me want to support the developer.
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Hi folks, thanks for trying out Olga!

If anyone does see any host compatibility problems, please let us know and we'll try to address it as quickly as possible. Either post the details here or at our forum http://www.stillwellaudio.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=35 (we'll see it a lot sooner over there).

As for the Russian translations, we had actual Russian speakers helping us out, but we were also trying for an element of humor (especially given that our "spelling" of Olga in the title is just nonsense). Of course, humor is almost as subjective as one's taste in synthesizers ... For anyone who doesn't think the russian bit is as fun as we hope it is: the manual is in English, and we worked hard to make it readable. Also, there are hints in the manual for how to get some language help on the GUI.

And finally -- at the risk of just inciting lots of posts from people who don't care for it -- we are very excited about Olga's sound. There's a lot of brand-new technology in there, and we think it sounds great, and most of all, lively and different from a lot of what's out there.

Schwa, congrats on the synth. I'm looking forward to trying out the Mac version.

The audio demos are interesting, but I think you should add more of them (shorter in length, and focusing on a wider sound palette, etc.).

I realise that the Mac version will be released when 'its done', but do you have a time frame in mind?

I love this thing! I don't know if it's the gritty sound, the cigarrette in the ash tray, or the fact that I can't read a damn thing on the UI, but it rocks some serious socks! The presets are kinda lame...but other than that, thumbs up. :)

Lame presets aren't a problem for me, neither are lame mp3 demos. I'm more interested in the range and quality of the instrument. I was able to get a pretty decent sense of both from what was posted.

schwa... i saw that hint in the manual about the language tip cool! I also see exactly where that is too... I'm not telling anyone though. :)

Also, the manual is very nicely put together and (except for one small typo that I saw) very well done. (Hey, my day job is in publishing.)

Judging by your site, etc. - if nothing else, you at least have a good graphics team.

But... of couse, the sound and the instrument are the main thing. I'm very excited to check out the demo later!

Opax, it sounds like you're on a Mac, unfortunately, otherwise you wouldn't have asked that question. So I will agree that having additional and shorter sounds would be nice. Maybe some demos highlighting the special qualities of this synth, which I'm guessing would be showing off some of the circuits being overdriven, the characteristics of the filter oscillation, and the organic quality of the sound.

I like what's posted so far too though - hearing the sounds in some sort of context. So, both really would be nice.

Just a note here, we do have reports of midi problems in Cubase 4, which we're working on. No reports of troubles in any other host.

first up, nice synth, i love the modulation stuff, it seems to range from subtle to completed f**cked up. very enjoyable.

the manual seems very clear as well.

i seem to be having a problem in sonar though, sometimes notes seem to "latch"

cheers,

rosllow.

I wasn't blown away but it's starting to grow on me. It definitely has character and I came up with some gritty pads pretty quick. A little external reverb and it starts to come alive. I don't know if it will find a home in my folder since I just finished a good ruthless vst cleaning but I'm going to keep it around for a few days and see.

I seem to be getting stuck notes quite often in FL-Studio, I'll give it a quick run in Bidule and Usine and see if I get the same problem.

update: stuck note problems exist in Usine as well but not in Bidule.
