but the one I sent was beta 2 wasn't it? please try again, as I could not reproduce it :-(
You sent 1.47 beta 4. Did you make sure you were trying to reproduce the crash with the host set at 50bpm? I dunno if you got my crash video or not, but there's the link again: http://shup.com/Shup/25170/ReaperCrashOnRecord.gif
still no luck reproducing - perhaps you have a midi controller configured (settings page) that has a bug? Before just deleting all the midi controllers you have set up, please send me a reaper file that produces the crash and your livesliceeffect.ini file from the vst directory - that would be of great help.

thanks for sharing that very useful file with us. It certainly does what it says on the tin :-)

I nailed the bug too: it wasn't the tempo or anything - it was the negative time signature (edit: I mean song position) (I had not foreseen that it was possible to start recording at -16 beats).

thanks for the assistance

Hi,

Here are some BR I noticed since LS 1.47 betas' have been out:

[LiveSlice v147b4]

BR1/ GUI: File browser not being correctly refreshed
1- Maximize the file browser
2- Click on "settings" and set "Number of visible tracks" to 4 for example
3- Click on "settings" again
:?: The file browser is not being correctly displayed

BR2/ Switching between Arrangements with LMB while LS is playing = NOK
1- Start host's sequencer
2- Select Arrangement C1
3- Click on Play in Liveslice
4- Select Arrangement C#2
:?: The latter doesn't play! Must select C1 and stop the arrangement, then select C#1 and then click on "Play" again

BR3/ Random and strange behavior while resetting an event's parameter with MMB
:?: Since the following feature has been implemented: "you can reset event parameters by dragging over them with middle mouse button down", I have encountered some strange behavior while wanting to reset a parameter for an event with MMB: several events to the left of the selected event parameters' were being reset too (while I wanted to reset only the selected event's parameter!)

BR4/ Arrangements cells not being refreshed when loop is deleted
1- Load a loop
2- Lock to loop in order to create an Arrangement
3- Delete loop
:?: The arrangement cell still displays the arrangement as not being empty (however, if another arrangement is selected, the all the Arrangements cells are being refreshed)

No more able to toggle through predefined default values with RMB on numberboxes
Not a bug, but a very handy behavior that has disappeared :(
A new feature has been added, which is quite cool (drop down menu on nearly every number box) However, I also found the old behavior while RMB on numberboxes very handy. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a drop down menu with LMB and cycle through predefined values with RMB for example?

Cheers,
GilJ.

thanks GilJ - excellent points there - just implemented everything in fact :-)

Just one I've noticed for the moment:

[BR 102] The active area [x] for deleting an event seems to have got smaller or not working correctly. Sometimes it takes me 4-5 clicks in the right position to delete the event.

Will test more later. :).

I can't get 1.47 RC1 to sync with host working. Am using Cubase 4.1.2. It triggers but it's out of sync. Cubase stops liveslice plays & then Cubase plays liveslice stops...............Thanks ohm.

In latest version of REAPER (2104), open LiveSlice 1.47 beta 3 in a track, then load a bank using REAPER's native patch loading function. The first bank loads flawlessly. But when trying to load another bank in same LiveSlice, it crashes REAPER.

Is this REAPER or LiveSlice at fault?
I'd like to try and reproduce this, but none of the liveslice banks I have crashes reaper. I did find a bug related to bank loading, that would prevent playback if a loop was missing.

perhaps you can email me one of the banks that crashes reaper?
Darn it, am trying to isolate one of my banks but it doesn't seem related to any particular one. Sometimes it will load it, sometimes it will crash. Hard to reproduce.

I have noticed that some of the banks keep asking me for locations of .wav files, so maybe I didn't not save these properly the first time round (the location of samples changed I think though). It seems to be these banks that crash more often, either when loading them or trying to go to another bank from them.

Wish I could be more helpful at this stage...

[using v147 rc1]
Implemented FRs:
FR 058 - Mousewheel-scrollable Time Sigs
FR 053 - Overlapping slices in RX2 files
FR 030 - set width of Browser/Loops sections

BRs Fixed:
BR 098 - MIDI Playback channels 1 too high
BR 100 - [Locate Slice] does not work when the browser panel is expanded

New BRs:
BR 104 Different Arrangement labels in different hosts
in EnergyXT:
- the host piano roll is C-2 to B8
- my Arrangements thumbnails are labelled C1 to B2
- my Play Slices config in C4 to B6
- C1 (MIDI note 36) from keyboard controller or MIDI part triggers the first Arrangement

in Reaper (v2105)
- the host piano roll is C-2 to B8
- my Arrangements thumbnails are labelled C3 to B4
- my Play Slices config in C6 to B8
- C1 (MIDI note 36) from keyboard controller or MIDI part triggers the first Arrangement (labelled C3)

Changing the MIDI Octave offset in Reaper only changes the note labels in the MIDI Editor.

BR 103 Reversed waveforms of overlapping events are not displayed correctly
When overlapping events are [Reversed] in the Arranger their waveforms are not displayed correctly.
Ohm, try it with the 120_A#_guitar_clean41 Rx2 file that I sent you.

Question/comment:
In the 143beta3 email you said "I improved the rex import - all the data from overlapping slices is now imported. I chose to keep the linear audio data display in the slicer, so a rx2 file that is set to 120bpm, but stretched in recycle to add 30% to each slice, will show up as an 84 bpm loop,"

I loaded a 120 bpm RX2 loop, its tempo was displayed as 85.86 (it's the same on Kontakt 3) - this is the tempo calculated from the overall length of the loop. Would it be an idea to calculate the loop length (and then the tempo) as:
<<start time of last slice>> + << length of last slice>> ?
I think that it will then come out as 120 bpm. What do you think?

Hi ohm,

this bug still happens with RC1 (host is latest FL) :
audio_dude wrote: using a correct MIDI config, and the Piano Roll, I actually succeeded in triggering my slices from the host :), but as soon as I went back to the LiveSlice GUI, my current selected loop was immediately replaced by the very last entry in the "Loops" list (and it was actually an empty entry !).

The result was there were no more sound coming from LiveSlice since the "sel. loop" was the option I chose in the "settings" tab, and the selected loop was now set to "empty".

Anyone can confirm this bug ?

Thanks !

Please forget this one - LS is doing what it should. I was talking rubbish.

Bump..........

parris - you really should be triggering liveslice via midi notes to play each pattern (as per the slots at the bottom of the GUI). Whilst it is convenient that liveslice will run without pressing play on the host, I don't think it's designed for us to depend on that functionality for a song.

sounds like you have a midi note configured to trigger the selected loop - check the midi controller configuration in "settings".

Ohm, thanks for clearing away these B.R :)

[LiveSlice v147rc1]

However, you have corrected this bug:
GilJ wrote: [LiveSlice v147b4]
[...]

BR2/ Switching between Arrangements with LMB while LS is playing = NOK
1- Start host's sequencer
2- Select Arrangement C1
3- Click on Play in Liveslice
4- Select Arrangement C#2
:?: The latter doesn't play! Must select C1 and stop the arrangement, then select C#1 and then click on "Play" again
But this one has reappeared instead:
GilJ wrote: [LiveSlice v145rc3]

BR1/ Changing banks, selects another arrangement
1- Load LS
2- Select arrangement C1
3- Load a loop and lock to loop
4- LMB on LS's "Play" button
5- Start the host's sequencer
6- Select another bank (I.E. bank 2)
:?: C1 arrangement stops to play and C2 gets selected

Cheers,
GilJ.
