ANything that could give REaper tap tempo would be nice

Thanks Soma! I've been waiting for a plugin like this for a while. I couldn't believe that nobody had created one yet. Seems so obvious.

Well : autoresponse : the man who told me it worked fine thought it was only a tool to tap a tempo and visualize it !sinkmusic wrote:Weird. Someone told me that Soma taptempo was working fine in REaper, but on my mahcine, REaper won't even see it...

He didn't get the fact that the purpose of the plugin was to tap and actually modify the tempo...
(and, yes, once again : thank you soma for your nice plugins)

I am now looking for something a little bit different : i am wondering if womething like this already exists, or if it would be possible to make one :
It is like a tap-tempo plugin, but the tap would not be given by a mouse click, but by audio data ?
At the moment, i would have a great need of such a thing, and i guess it oculd be done in EnergyXT, by chaining a audio to midi plugin to a tap tempo plugin, but i don't know how to chain it, and don't know which plugin would be the more accurate for such a task...
Let's say you feed the plugin a basic 4/4 beat, the plugin finds the tempo by analyzing data (like a trigger/gate for analogue synths), and transmit the info to the host.
I would need it to synchronize a non-midi hardware instrument to a sequencer, but it also could be über-coolto feed your Daw with some audio data from which you don't know the tempo, adn , for example, in case of a jam with friends or a long session with various tempo changes, it coudl auto-set/update to tempo....
I guess it could be great, but... does this already exists ?

Yes, but the tap tempo window blocks the main window. So, if you want to use your pc keyboard as a midi controller, and also have a key to tap tempo, that's imposible.napalmbob wrote:huh? FL already has a tap tempo function, didn't the second post already mention this...?!!serknor wrote:Does anyone know how to use soma tap tempo with FL? How to assign the cc's?

Hey, what a good idea!Jason Brian Merrill wrote:is there a simple vst plugin that you can tap on and it tells you the bpm?
Going slightly off-topic (sorry): is there a plug-in that can calculate the tempo - and preferably transmit that info to your host - if you select part of an audiofile and tell it (the plugin) how many beats it corresponds to? (Like Recycle's tempo-calculating function, but not neccessarily for a whole audiofile, just for the region you select).
That would be really useful, too.

UNless I'm misunderstanding you, it sounds like you and I are looking for more-or-less the same kind of thing: a plug-in for automagically syncing your host to an audio file of unknown tempo. (Or have I got that wrong...?)sinkmusic wrote:hELLO
