Could anyone explain a little bit what the various unusual labels do "hyst", "link", "xcorr") ?
And what differs in the various differnet sections ?
(i can't wait for the manual
)
Cheers

I didn't miss it, but what I miss is:pattonfreak1 wrote:Christ I cant believe I missed this the first time. WTF?

Readout of all the knobs.. you know.. for the "surgical" setup..
Loudness limiting: I like alot the idea but it sounds a bit "agressive" (imho of course): short attack is too much.. long attack almost good but.. basically I miss a settable RMS limiter's Ratio value.
[Edit] but then it would become an RMS Comp, more than Loudness limiting? [/Edit]
Correlation limiting: I Love it!
ISP: Inter Sample peaks I totally miss it! I mean can you (we) hear it? I can't.
Envelope limiting: I can see its meter moving only by boosting the input slider way over 0db.
K-Meters: I like it! But are the RMS dynamics too quick? (imo again of course).
Wish all the best to Jeroen and his projects.

It looks and sounds nice, however I have some constructive criticism so it could really deserve a "pro" suffix IMHO:
- controls should default to linear motion [up/down] for precision, not circular
- controls should show a value in db's, two decimal places like this: -0.50db
- you should be able to input a precise value with the numpad for speed everywhere [see Waves plugins, the best GUIs hands down, usability wise]
- what use for peak hold if you don't show the value somewhere. there should be peak hold values for peaks as well as RMS.
- adjustable peak hold times and reset on click
That's all. Looks excellent otherwise, but mastering engineers like to see every possible value in db's
. For input, for output, for digital peaks, for RMS peaks, for threshold, for attack and release...
Yeah, it definitely sounds nice
.
Cheers!

I had it in right now, and it definitely seemed to smooth out the transients a bit more; seems to work better on this dance mix with it off. In fact, seems to work on this mix better with "Hysterisis" turned down too...not that I know what it's doing, exactly...this "Hysterisis" stuff is creeping into these wonderfuly esoteric compressors now...

OT, but some time down the line when we're all integrated into digital systems, then a personal limiter could be quite handy. You could feel like you are really letting go in the safe knowledge that your own personal limiter is keeping it all under control...Sorry
