Kontakt 3 - so is it worth the upgrade?

Hello again... I know a few of you on here use Kontakt 3 - how is it compared to Kontakt 2?

I brought Kontakt 2 for my Mac about 6 months ago, and am only starting to really know how to use it properly (lack of time really)... I know Kontakt 3 has been out for a while, but I've heard it's quite alot more bloated and flakey than version 2.

How is it now that a few bug fixes have come out etc.? Is it a pretty stable beast now? (particularly for Macs) What new stuff does it have that's useful for production (dnb or otherwise)?

If you can get a good upgrade price I would go for it.
Depends on what daw you are using I guess.

I don't use K2 now that I've upgraded to K3. I don't find it bloated or flakey compared to K2, and NI recently announced that they plan a 64bit version upgrade in 2008! (Thanks NI!)

Although I use the Win version, I really dig the upgrade. It is worth it to me. Too many improvements to list. Workflow is much faster (for me) when making instruments from scratch or tweaking. The new effects & mods are awesome, etc. If you're into DnB (and heavy sampling), get the upgrade, you will like it.

By the way, the K3 sample library is fantastic! A lot of good instruments and scripts in there.

Here's your answer right here, dude!

Yeah, I hit this one with them 6 months, after purchase Kore 1...couldn't believe that a hardware upgrade would possibly be released this quickly. Personally, I wait on Steinberg and NI, now. In fact, I often skip upgrades.

BTW, many cats will tell you that the latest comes with this great library. This was true in K2 (i.e. VSL segment), however, would you pay $150 (upgrade) for NI synth samples?

If you've only had K2 for 6 months, just keep using it, man. If you don't run into any limitations, you probably have everything you need.

NI Synth Samples? Is that what you think has been added in Kontakt3? Or maybe I misunderstood?

There is a lot more new in the library than synth samples, if that is indeed what you are getting at. If it's not, then disregard this!

One third-party seller (PureMagnetik) switched to K3 for their sample distribution. I'm going to upgrade just for that, so I unsubbed. Besides, I'm wallowing neck-deep in samples for Kontakt, Sampletank, DimPro and Wusik already.
