It's a shell host/VST for all the Amplitube variants, so you can use Amplitube 2's effects with JHE's fuzzboxes, etc.Beardedone wrote:What is X-Gear, again?
Very much looking forward to it's release here.

X Gear is a program that allows you to combine the effects of Amplitube, JH, etc in one platform. (eg,,, a fuzz from JH with a chorus from Amplitube) and create and save presets that exploit any of these combined FX.
(It's similar to the way Sampletank allows you to load any Sampletank format sounds into one engine)

all powered by amplitube products will be available to use with x-gear so you can expect AT metal to be included in it as well.

I'm very impressed with the Amplitube sims, but I find their packages kind of confusing. Sure, there are people who only want to imitate Jimi Hendrix... but how many could there be? I wish they had something that was more complete or "ala carte." I'm signed up for the eSoundz group buy but I'll have to pass on the Amplitube 2 because I need the SVX more. So oddly, if I want something from Amplitube 2 it will cost me more than the SVX/JH combo. (I understand why, but...)
That said, is sure is a super great deal and probably will keep me happy for a long time. I spent a lot of time with different Amp sims (guitar rig included) and nothing came close. I crow all the time about how much I love my Vox Tonelab SE but I wonder if in the future I'll be leaving it behind and going all software.

Just in case you didn't know, I believe the inclusion of X-gear in the GB is dependent upon a (IK?) policy which states owning 2 "guitar" products qualifies you for X-gear for free. I'm not sure whether the SVX is considered a "guitar" product for this purpose.
In other words I'd hate to see you miss out on X-gear by choosing SVX, then buying Amplitube 2 down the road. Since Amplitube and SVX are the same price, you'd end up spending the same cash but lose out on X-gear.
Perhaps this is what you meant when you said:

Actually, probably not as much as you might think. The CROSSGRADE price for AT2 (which you are entitled to now that you have the SVX/JH combo) is only a bit more than the GB bundle. And, with Esoundz, their discounted price off of that will save you even more dough. And, if you call them now directly, I'm sure they would actually be happy to make you happy with some kind of special deal. They do it all the time, and all you have to do is ask. The worst that can happen is that they say no. But that's generally not in Squids' vocabulary.zerocrossing wrote: So oddly, if I want something from Amplitube 2 it will cost me more than the SVX/JH combo. (I understand why, but...)

Can anyone tell me if the X-Gear shell will accomodate CSR?
My favorite thing to do with AT2 is use its presets but substitute CSR for the AT2 reverb at the end of the signal chain. Gives a much cleaner sound IMHO. It would be nice if X-gear would allow me to save these as presets.
Does anyone know if this is possible? Squids? Niko? Allen?
Thanks

Thanks for the info. I haven't had any time to peruse this stuff lately. I just ordered AT2 JH so this is excellent news! I will probably take advantage of getting SVX even though I don't think I will have any real use for it.Just in case you didn't know, I believe the inclusion of X-gear in the GB is dependent upon a (IK?) policy which states owning 2 "guitar" products qualifies you for X-gear for free. The GB includes X-gear for everybody, regardless of which products you choose. X-gear recognizes SVX just as it recognizes at 2 and at JH.

You can use that in X-Gear as well, unless I"m mistaken. I've gotten lots of good guitar sounds out of Ampeg heads in the past, so I'm betting a nice fuzz combo with an Ampeg head would be pretty slick.Beardedone wrote:Thanks for the info. I understand that SVX can be used in\with X-gear, because it is a "powered by Amplitube" product..
what I am saying is that I believe e-soundz is able to include X-gear for free ONLY because buying the GB in the way they advertise it assumes you are taking Amplitube 2 as your freebie in conjunction with IK's 2 for 1 promo.
Since previous owners of Amplitube don't need it, by purchasing Hendrix in the GB they will now have two "guitar" products (JHE and their previously purchased AT2) and will now qualify for free X-gear, they would also be able to pick SVX or T-racks etc as their freebie.
However, someone who does notalready own AT2 and chooses something other than AT2 as their freebie (as zerocrossing is suggesting he might) may end up with only one "guitar" product (ie ATJHE) and may not qualify for free X-gear. So it is important to distinguish:
a) whether free X-gear is contingent upon owning 2 'guitar' products
b) whether SVX is considered a 'guitar' product for this purpose should it be chosen instead of AT2 as the freebie
I'm not trying to be difficult, but this kind of stuff is much more easily ironed out before the sale than afterwards. My whole reason for even mentioning it is this posting from the GB thread:

.it seems to indicate that SVX (as a "powered by amplitube" item) will still allow for free X-gear, but what about someone (who does not own AT2 already) who buys GB and chooses T-racks\CSR (instead of AT2) as freebie?Squids wrote:Yes! It will be released by the middle of March and it is FREE for everyone who chooses AT2 in this group buy (or already owns it and picks up any other powered by AmpliTube product). That's as far as I know but I did ask to be sure... in fact it could/should be even sooner!sockofgold wrote:Squids, I am sorry if this has been asked, but this thread is 14 pages long now.
Is there any word on when the stand-alone (i.e. not StompIO) version of X-Gear will be released? The fact that there is no MIDI control in Amplitube right now makes it fairly annoying to use as a live amp, and it is what has kept me away from it for so long. X-Gear will finally make AT2 usable as a real amp. Thanks.
Look like we'll be hitting 100 before too long...

Hm... I wonder if I sign up for the group buy + 1 I may be able to negotiate some deal. I obviously would not need SVX Uno. It would be super hot if I could get a deal that involved JH, Amplitube2 and SVX...
