Emily in C? Does that appeal to you?

Spent the afternoon screwing around with it, not exactly thrilled with what I've played so far, but seems like there's something worthy there, something lurking in the back of my mind.

You like the tune? Interested in playing a couple of choruses or so?

Tempo? Any preference?

Yes. That's a human ear, all right.

Could use a link.

a link? I don't have a link. :) I just started screwing around with the tune, nothing so far I'd want to post. I did a collab with Watto a while back, he seems to like this sort of stuff. Actually, he's a mofo at this sort of stuff. Hence the topic title.

You like this stuff too? Excellent! If I end up fronting a collab here, it'll be pretty straightforward -- anybody can play, nobody gets snubbed, everybody gets an appreciative comment.
Yes. That's a human ear, all right.

I could do pitched snarling and acid bass. How about that?

uh yeah. Emily's not really a snarling kind of tune. You might have to, like, expose your Inner Vulnerabilities 'n' stuff.

But yeah, if I do put up tracks for a collab, anybody can do whatever they want.

Hey mate,

I'm not actually familiar with Emily  but am happy to give it a go, if you've got a chart (or if I can find one) :)

enh, not to worry, you'll smoke on it. Jazz waltz, theme from the movie The Americaniziation Of Emily, Bill Evans made it a standard. I was looking around for stuff we could collab on, interesting standards that haven't been beaten to death, it's a gorgeous tune ( although I pretty much suck at it so far).

It's in the Real Book or New Real Book, let me know if you don't have a chart and I'll post one.

Found it - looks good :)

You should change your title to Yo Gregjazz now that I'm on board :hihi:

Gregjazz? Is he still around? Yeah, if he'd play on it, that'd be great! I've changed the title to something more inclusive.

I've had a few goes at it, harder than it looks -- well what the hell I'll put something up this weekend, whatever I come up with by then will have to do. Been listening to Evans and Getz, they stick pretty close to the melody, hmmm...
Yes. That's a human ear, all right.

Yep, Gregjazz is around - pm him!

Look forward to hearing your part, mate :)

How about pitched snorting then? We could do this a totally new thing man. Along with the acid bass, it would penetrate the veil of emotional illusion forever.

Come on it's Emily! If you play Jazz you at least have to know the Standards. :D

Good luck with this, Bebop!

Cheers,

Hey man,

I'd like to keep it as much an acoustic jazz thing as possible.

Cheers!

:smack:

It looked familiar once I'd looked at it, but I'm sure I'll recognise it completely when beboop posts it :P

You have reminded me about our collab, so that's a good thing :hihi:

Can try to make some decent drums. And even maybe some decent Cbass and even some decent little other things if the basis is appealing enough and I find both time and inspiration.

Hopefully this one will go further than the "one note samba" we tried last years Watto (and from wich I had no news ........ )

Well well lets see what comes out :)
