Actually it all started when I did work on a new waveset for my VSTi. After having done around 50 I checked these in STS-26, ProtoPlasm21 and shuniji only to notice these quite complex waveforms are the overdose for those VSTi. In fact the new waves are at least two waves combined in a new one to achieve these type of complex waveforms. A more simpler synthengine would be a lot better suited for this waveset. Thus I developed Amber which inherited from ProtoPlasm 21 LKO for delay and LoBoost. Also there is LFO driven modulation for delay and a saturator. A dedicated pitch-LFO controlled by ModWheel can drive both or one selectable oscillator. Five LFO and one sample and Hold serve as modsources for various targets. At the filter there is even the option to modulate one LFO by another one. As there are only two oscillators this one is really light on CPU approx. 4.5% with 3 voices on a AMD64/3500 and Win XP/SP2.
Umbra is best suited for dark ambient, soundscapes, drones etc.
listen to some sounds watching a video with some patches simply played in succession:
edit: this is an updated partly reworked version of the video

Have fun

btw. there is still a some work to be done ... the 128 new waveforms need to be renamed
