I'm with redshift...if the dynamics are as good as ATJHE, then damn the torpedos!

Having X-Gear, I don't really need to load up AT2 so adjusting any patches and saving them in X-Gear would be no biggie. Then again, I don't have that many user patches ;-)

redshift, have you been able to compare the ATJHE patches in X-Gear with the same patches in ATJHE? I haven't been able to fire it up yet.

Like A3ntar, I'm a software guy and the only reason I'm on now is that I just got back from an all-nighter at the data center.
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

I also dreamt as many of us about the right click midi learn function to all knobs, including input and master level knobs. Lets keep dreaming...

I just edited AT2 and ATJHE vpa files with hexeditor and replaced those amp names with real amp names. Now I have to do same with the X-gear vpa file.

I hope that someday we see the unpacker to the pak files, so we can edit also the graphics :D .

Can you give a walkthrough on how to do that?

I too would be interested. Amplitube's names are sometimes a little too vague, and it's easy to forget which amp is which.

I just opened the vpa file with the hexeditor ( I used old XVI32) and searched amp names there. They were in several locations and I just tried which one was the one that affects to the name on the amp module.

For example in the Amplitube2.vpa file, the name "British tube lead 2" starts in the "decimal address 5297244", so I replaced that name with "Marshall JCM900" etc. The other amp names are there nearby.

And of course remember to take a backup copy of your original vpa file.

I hope this helps, hard to explain because I'm a total beginner with "trial and error" method.

I wonder if that would give an error when sharing presets.

I think that the name in that location refers only to the visible name in the amp module. As I said, there are amp names in several locations inside vpa file, so don't edit those names in other locations. I have used others presets with no problems.

I hope that someone with proper knowlegde can explain this "name editing" better than me.

Ok, so when you enter the new names, the character length isn't an issue?

The new/saved file crashes Ampliube. How did you get around that?

I think that the new name can't be longer than the original. If it's shorter than the original, you have to add enough spaces (hex code 20), so that it will match with the original lenght.

Hmm, maybe that's why it crashed. I'd really like to get this sorted out as I hate those bo-bo names.

Maybe you can produce a diff patch?

Sorry, I can't do a diff patch. As I said I'm total beginner with these things. I hope that someone more skillful than me can do that thing. Has anybody else got this name editing working ?

Did you get crashes also, Flatout?

I haven't had any crashes. I can load and save presets without any troubles.
I just wonder if this discussion is too long in this X-Gear/AT2Metal thread?
