I'm in the same boat I guess.

:(

anyway, it's getting better, partly because I changed my way of doing things. If I have a deadline to meet I do composing on the piano/guitar and finalize the chords/melody/form even before I turn on the computer.

That way I'm sure it'll work and I can obsess over sounds as much as I like later. What used to kill me was getting the right sounds on the fisrt four bars, argh ...

I Like Old School... And about New School I think that Electrixx are really cool! I'm just trying to say that electronic music is trough a bad moment where minimalist tendence is killing the music. Since minimal gets on top, I haven't heard more complex basslines or powerful leads because minimal doesn't require that kind of things that makes the music sounds really awesome.

For example

Minimal Tendence: DeadMau5, Workidz, jerzz, etc
Old School: Locktown, Axwell, Erick Morillo, Deux, etc.

Personally I don't like minimal tendence because IMHO isn't music head lots of strange noises and sub basses without a hook that makes you can't get out of your head that song and I think that Minimal has no feeling... (that's why I've said MINIMAL KILLS MUSIC"), I like old school because the music was more complex, with more soul and simply better than now.

About competition, the life is a competition... you must to compete to enter in the college, you must to compete to find a good job, you must to compete to make your music unique and original, because it would be boring if you sound like a copy of another artists so by that way you must to create your own style!!! and create your own style is to compete with other artists

Dont Missundestand me

I don't need to be impolite with you, fight yourself alone :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

this is what you do cypherone. take a break from writing music. don't open your host again till you want to. not when you feel like it. definitely don't open any songs your working on because the more you listen to it, the more you will start to hate how it sounds and you will find more and more problems with the structure, melody, (insert problem here).

you will know when its time to start writing again because you will crave it.
till you crave it, find something else to do, (i do graphic art with sketchup and listen to music) i also create models with eitech which is a meccano like toy. maybe you like writing? maybe you like playing games. whatever you do stay away from your daw and focus on other hobbies. when you focus your mind on other
hobbies, you get cravings for ones that your not currently doing.

think of your creativity like a battery, the more use it, the more you use up.
thats why you always have to keep a backup battery. that being another hoby you enjoy :)

I keep thinking I'll take a break, but I miss playing around with synths and drum machines too much, even if it results in no decent output :?
Of course, if you keep making the same track over and over expecting different results, you can be classified as insane, by definition....even if it results in no decent output. :hihi:
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?
