Having spent a good few hours with this synth, I've found some things I'd like to suggest as changes for the next udpate, SVP:

1. A better manual. the current manual is really thin, and doesn't cover nearly enough of the possibilities of this great synth
  • - how does one route the LFOs?
    - the manual states that the FREE button, in the OSC sections, glows yellow when active...well, actually, it glows cyan, just like all the other buttons...
    - how does FREQ OFFSET differ from PITCH & DETUNE?
    - how does one make their own banks? - I don't want all of my personal patches cluttering the banks that came with TB...
2. Better choices for certain item values:
  • - phase values in degrees instead of 0-100
    - the LFO rates: I think a better approach to setting the rate would be a toggle switch: Hz/beats, and a resulting visual change from a dial for the Hz to a numerator/denominator display to let people adjust their beat divisions manually. (Kjaerhus's delay has a good example of what I'm talking about here)
    - the same goes for the FX delay settings
    - UNISON DETUNE in cents, not %
    - FILTER CUTOFF in Hz
    - the MASTER PITCH MOD section offers the Filter EG in semitones, but the LFO setting is in % - why isn't the LFO also in semitones for the max bend?
3. the TOXIC IIII badge looks kind of silly...TOXIC IV is the proper Roman Numerals, and the mental connection between an IV (intra-venous line) and Biohazard is very fitting for the overall TOXIC impression of the synth overall.

4. While I appreciate this is the second version of the synth with this symmetrical layout, I find it more intuitive to think of the OSCs in this kind of arrangement:
  • 1 2
    3 4
    5 6
so I structure my patch building by starting with my fundamental wave on OSC 1, and then moving to OSC 4 (as TB is laid out) for my next/harmony/modulation wave, then on to OSC 2 for the next wave, & c.
This is just a preference thing, to be sure, but I'm mentioning it as a design idea for future revisions, or Toxic V:Metastasis (feel free to use that, BTW :))

thanks for reading.

<<- how does one make their own banks? - I don't want all of my personal patches cluttering the banks that came with TB...>>

i can answer that one - each bank is stored as a folder, and each preset in the bank is a file in the folder. so if you make a folder in the program files/image-line/toxic biohazard/ folder, you can save your sounds to that one. or make a few for pads, lead, bass, etc

<<- how does one route the LFOs? >>

in the middle of the display there is a maxtix 2 boxes high and 6 across.

if you want LFO 2 to modulate osc 3, you would increase the value in the 3rd box along, on the second row. if you want LFO1 to modulate osc5 it would be the fifth along on the top row of the box.

<<- how does FREQ OFFSET differ from PITCH & DETUNE?>>

as far as i can tell, freq offset is a fixed amount, the other two are relative. offset will make inharmonic sounds as the note will always be 300hz (for example) from where it meant to be (and not proportional to the note. a note an octave higher will be double the frequency, an octave lower half the frequency)

you could have offset set to a value that was 'in tune' for a paticular note, but as you player higher (or lower) notes, the offset oscillator would sound more and more out of tune the further you got from the note where it is 'in tune'.

i don't think i've done a very god job of explaining that!

thanks: continuing to play, I figured out the LFO Matrix. I guess what was tripping me up was the "limited" options available. The matrix applies to OSC pitch only -- I was looking for some more patching options, I guess. And the rest of the Mod options are fixed, also, such as LFO2 being your only mod source for the filter, and (IIRC) no mod for the MASTER AMP envelope...

I understand your FREQ OFFSET explanation...hmmm, now the challenge is thinking of a use...:)
