No Sound from some Rhino Presets.

Hmmm. Plug-ins should never adapt their behaviour depending on their host. At least, not in the ideal world.

I know, common sense isn't common, is it?pough wrote: Me!?

Taste can mean nasty as well. When cooking, you can 'season to taste' that can mean 2 kilos of currie or non at all. Taste doesn't have to mean 'pearls, opera and Rolls Royces.' (As in 'good taste')

Discretion can also mean 'terminate with extreme prejudice' as well don't forget.
Could well be. I'm using Cubase SX and Chainer. YMMV, as they say.I was thinking that maybe Tim's host that he used to make the patches has a lower overall level than Tracktion. I know that the Dash plugs all have three global volume settings to match up better with different hosts.

To be honest, I have a problem with Rhino being way too LOUD! I use EnergyXT as a host when programming sounds ( 'cause I can use Trollo so I can use the QWERTY and not have to turn on all my equipment just to use a MIDI keyboard:-) I have to turn the mixer WAY DOWN ( like 50 or 60 )on EnergyXT, so I don't get distortion. Also Rhino itself is at 25 or 30 volume. I notice that most Rhino patches are in this range, as I thought I was being "weird".
I do notice that if you use certain filters, the volume leaps up, even if you don't use a lot of resonance. Guess I can try this in another host like orion or Chainer.

Tim,
There's a way to change the overall global level or Rhino, once and for all:
1. Download this file: http://www.kvr-vst.com/~bigtick/rhinogain.reg
2. Edit it with notepad and set whatever value you want for the gain
3. Double-click it to write the information in the registry. It'll be used by Rhino next time you run it.

I find that only when I use your patch bank!tconrardy wrote:To be honest, I have a problem with Rhino being way too LOUD!
Me, too!tconrardy wrote:I use EnergyXT as a host
Yeah, I thought that was odd, too. I also found the way the main volume works is kinda fiddly. It's really twitchy at lower levels and does little at higher levels. Come to think of it, that's probably normal, but it would be nicer if the levels up higher were more usable so that you could move the slider more without the level jumping quite so much. Does that make any sense?tconrardy wrote:Also Rhino itself is at 25 or 30 volume. I notice that most Rhino patches are in this range, as I thought I was being "weird".
BTW, 'Tick, this bank of Tim's still messes up the factory presets. Have you found what causes this? It's not a big issue, since I know how to fix it, but it would be nice to not have to delete a file after I use Rhino...

HMMM...why is it louder? I am still learning to program Rhino, but as far as I know, I am only adjusting the parameters normally. Is the trick in the matrix? Should I adjust volumes lower in the matrix area?
Also, if I am using what everyone else has( the extra waveform set) why would it have anything to do with any other patch banks? Kinda confused here!
BTW: I am 1/2 done with another bank, trying to make it less CPU extensive and coming up with some nice sounds and more algorithmics. Also using the custom wave-form additive thing! Nice textures with that!
But would like to solve some of the above issues before proceeding.

I don't think I can help you, Tim. I wish I could, but unlike you I'm terrible at making patches so I wouldn't know where to begin to look. So far only your patches have sounded loud to me, but so far I seem to be the only one who finds them too loud. I wouldn't worry about it too much - just keep up the good work!
