The Boss SD-1 is a great overdrive pedal. It is a little more brighter than the Tube Screamer, but works really well with darker voiced amps/speakers such as my Soldano Hotrod 50 with a 2x12 cab with Vintage 30s. I will often turn down the drive all the way, boost the level and turning the pre drive on the amp's dirt/crunch channel down a little bit than normal, and using the tone control to shape the drives character like a treble booster would. The tube screamer works better with a well rounded or brighter sounding amp . I also have had a Boss DS-1 for a while and always used that before my Zoom fx processor into a clean sounding practice amp with great results. The DS-1 is a great distortion pedal although you have to adjust the tone just right or it can get thin and nasally sounding if not set just right, so it works with your amp's eq controls.

Nah, I say mid to late April
I don't know what makes you think mid to late april but I hope it's before the 30th. ha!

I'm guessing mid-October

Since ReValver Mk III is gonna be out by mid-April, I think IK'd better be quick! Both products seem to focus on similar target audience now.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

Exactly what I was thinking. Or they are waiting to size up the competition.

I am pretty sure that IKMM will do a fantastic job as usual. I can't wait myself to compare both since I won a free copy of Metal :D

I have both AmpliTube 2,AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix edition so I downloaded X-GEAR for free. I'm wondering when I do the install it's going ask for the serial number as far as I know I don't have any serial number. Also I recently reloaded
software using windows xp updated rme multiface drivers and ableton 7.03 and both AmpliTube 2,AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix edition crash ableton. Some other users have posted on the ableton forum similar problems but not everyone. Any help would be appreciated,

It's going to ask you for a serial. Check again the user area at IK.

I just noticed that http://www.amplitube.com/metal now says "Product will ship within 2008" instead of "within 2007"... If we're lucky, maybe it will be out before the end of the year?

Hope it's worth the wait...right now, my head is saying ATmeh...

It's official. This means we won't see it before at least 2009.
This is the AmpliTube 2 fiasco all over again. One can only imagine how many sales IKMM lost to Guitar Rig, Waves GTR, Guitar Rig 2, Waves GTR 2 - all released in between the time AmpliTube 2 was announced and finally began shipping. It looks like they're going for a repeat with AmpliTube Metal and Revalver MKIII, Revalver Metal Edition, Softube Metal Amp Room, etc... all of these will have been announced and released in between the time AmpliTube Metal was announced and finally begins shipping.

BTW, Metal is not in StompIO. If you own AmpliTube 2 and you buy StompIO, you get Metal free... when it is released, which IKMM lead everyone to believe would be about a month after StompIO started shipping... at this point I think any AmpliTube 2 owners who bought StompIO early should probably be feeling a bit mislead and perhaps even ripped off.

I felt misled a long ago.
AT2 was released, at the same time stomp I\O was announced, in big letters at their site. I thought for a moment that i would get stomp I\0 by then; AT2 had roughly the same price of GR3 with its controler.

But no, I had to wait 2 years, a lot of other products were released separately, when other companies, like Waves or NI, choose to integrate those developments on their current guitar line. By now if want stomp I\O, which was announced when AT2 was released, I have to pay the full monty, instead of having a discount... One day, hopefully, they will "give" me something i didn't ask for. :x

That's business ethics according some people.

x gear is a regression in automation, only 16 parameters, are you shitting me?
AT2/svx/JHE can automate every single parameter at the same time, and x gear forces you to choose 16!!!!

Oh, that's a bitch! Well, lots of other stuff to buy in the meantime. And who knows, maybe ATmeh won't be on the list by the time it finally gets released... :P
