How many members use Reason? I know its not really a daw but almost. I think it should count too.

The overwhelming number would be Sonar users, but that does include users who might have signed on because of Home Studio, Project 5, Kinetic, Instruments etc.
also consider how many of us have left the host in question for another. in my case i'm on cakewalks forum but have posted maybe 10 times; partly because i find the general tone of the forum to be full of pompous arrogant people, but partly because i stopped using sonar, and the main reason (drum roll): cakewalk software was easy for me to figure out so i didn't need as much help.

i've been with orion for less than a year, and it's quickly become my favorite environment for many things but because it has some little snags for me in some ways i wont drop other hosts and use just orion, or drop orion and use flstudio only, or drop both and use just tracktion.

there are lots of people who use more than one too. two forums i'm a member of; cockos, and cakewalk, but both products i dont use on a regular basis (i only use rapture, z3ta and sonitus from cakewalk, and i dont use reaper for other reasons but i bought a license to support justins effort).

anyway the point to take away is a forum member count really doesn't tell us much truthfully (which may not have been the point, i dunno) as it does not account for users who have switched away, or users who are just casually registering for other reasons who dont even use the products on offer. also as stated some company forums are 'all encompassing' types which further clouds any kind of 'cakewalk forum members = sonar users' kind of thing.

it's interesting to see how many there are though for each host vendor, so thanks cc for doing the footwork ;)

I seem to recall having registered on the Samplitude forum many years ago, despite not having owned anything by them. I was searching for a DAW.

I just noticed that Usine's forum = 978 members
That's many times the number I would have guessed at, although it includes people who never bought it, as it's the same forum for Usine free users.

For that matter I'm registered on the Image Line forums, but have only posted there twice or so, and only under great duress.

i made 5 posts on one of those forums.

Can't see any relevance to forum numbers. I think Cubase have been selling less over the years since there has been more competition, but AFAIK they still sell huge numbers compared to most of the other ones, yet have low forum numbers - I for one never even knew there was a Steinberg forum until around 15 years after I bought my first version of Cubase. I know I'm not the only one. Cubase.net will have no relevance to the number of Cubase customers, as most people know from early on that Cubase.net is not generally a pleasant place (or even sensible place mostly). I suspect there might be another 87.6% of Cubase customers that aren't members of their forum. With Logic it is probably a smaller figure...like 47.8% as more Logic users will need help to use it (being such a confusing and unintuitive host... :hihi: ).
Whereas, as we all know...Reaper will be in negative figures - their forum numbers actuaklly mean they have less users as each Reaper customer will register around 15 times each under pseudonyms just to convince us everyone uses it. Probably around -1533.7% for Reaper.

I could be erroneous by around 100.7% (+/- 101.4%) though...

Statistics have been known to be at least x(x/x)-x/2 percentage points out though.

what does that mean6
i'd never register to a logic, acid or cubase forum and I used all of them, same for reason
actually the only host forum I join are the one of hosts I don't use and want to know more about/suggest features so those numbers means nothing

I registered at Samp just to be able to use the search function, protected forum.( I own a Samp ancient version doe, my first audio app, version 4 or 5, it's name wasn't even Samplitude then)
I registered at CW, i was shopping for a soundcards, those guys are uber geeks, no dongle # required.

I'm a Cubase user. registered at the forum with 3 different nicks. The number of Steinberg dongles I own (the lic. are stored on one alone).

From what I can tell from the IL forum (it's not labelled anywhere, but through trial and error, this appears to be the most recent user number):

interesting thread ;)

Great info

Registration on Cubase Forum is really painfull. You have to enter a more than hard to read serial found on the dongle. Reason why I didn't register for a long time.
