Get Down, Get Funky

This month, we are going to be genre oriented.
Your comp should be in the style of Funk.

Funk is a form of music that originated in the mid- to late-1960s when African American musicians blended soul music, soul jazz and R&B into a rhythmic, danceable form.

If you have any questions, go to the gossip thread.

Good Luck

Submissions MUST follow these rules:

1 - Encoded in either .mp3 (128kbps or lower if fixed rate ... average of 128kbps or lower if VBR) or .ogg format (quality level 4.00 or lower)

2 - A STRICT MAXIMUM of TWO MINUTES in length. If it shows up as 2:01 in my player, then I'll allow it for reasons of rounding in different players.
But you shouldn't take that chance! Any longer gets the Boot. A blatant over time will result in DQ.

3 - Must be composed specifically for this contest

4 - The FILE to be named in a format of "yearmonth_artistname_tracktitle"(ie "0804_artistname_tracktitle.mp3"),
where the artistname is the same as your KVR name. Please, do not use spaces and special charaters in the filename. IF you are going to tag your mp3, the artist name is to be the same as your KVR name, and the title tag is to be the name of your tune.

5 - Entered into the contest by posting a DIRECT LINK in this RULES & SUBMISSIONS thread (use the GOSSIP thread for everything else). If you cant provide a direct link, please contact one of the following people listed below, they will be happy to help you out.(These people provide free hosting for the purpose of this contest only! More funk ? Here you get it, a load full of funky ingredients ! :D
All pressed together in 2 minutes via Logic, with my usual tools (see previous months  ), and an extra BUMP for the IXOX delay (less cpu consume than any other; runs on absint ! :hihi: ).
As a reaction on Psy-T's complaint about missing a bass last month, I've used 2 basses.

Eat it while it's hot :

Funk in the Junk

Lyrics:

Rudy plays the guitar and sometimes Mushmouth too.
Weird Harold on the lowdown pluckin basslines on the cue.
Bill holds down the rhythm on a trashcan for a drum.
Dumb Donald blows the 'bone so bad ya gotta run home to your mom.

Chorus:
There's Funk in the Junk
Yeah Funk in the Junk.
This ain't no lie this ain't no bunk.
There's Funk in the Junk.

Russell chimes the bottles like it's a xylophone.
Bucky's on the washtub bass or the organ all alone.
Fat Albert will be singin' the lesson ev'ry week.
This is what the Junkyard Gang does with their antiques.

(chorus)

I can tell you this ain't jazz, and it ain't soul.
It ain't even country and western or klezmer or rock n' roll.
It ain't the nasty stink from a rotting roadkill skunk.
And it certainly isn't a Dominique Wilkins High-Flyin' Tomohawk dunk.

(chorus and out)

Plugins used:

Plugsound Free for the Bass and Clavinet
VB3 effect section on the clav
Amplitube LE on my strat
Jamstix 2
Sonik Synth Free for the minneapolis brass in the left channel.
Multitudinous bundled effect plugins from Mackie (LP filter, reverb, mono mini comp, Final Mix)

The Letter from Funkistan

Image
lyrics:
Are you down for getting up?
Are you up for getting down?
Are you down for getting high?
Or are you too high for getting up?

I wanna hop over your hip,
I wanna dance around your hut,
I wanna pimp-up my hat
And walk around the block

I wanna bump over your hut
I wanna beep over your hip
I'm gonna pimp-up my horse
And ride into your heart, lalala

I am probably going somehow off-topic, but I always thought middle-east stuff is funky.
