Hey Chopper
The Prodyssey is pretty smooth. Filters can be both ends of the spectrum from soft pads to squealing solos and effects, and the on-board sounds give a good idea of all this.
If you want to get specific, just ask.

I'll try it out tonite and let you know. I've been using the vocoder in the NM G2, which is perfect for my use, so I'll compare them and let you know in about 16 hours.

Hi.
Thanks a lot!
Indeed I am considering to buy a plugiator mainly for the vocoder.
I am looking for something affordable that I can use live, means without PC.
I have heard the vocodizer demo on Noah and liked it.
Maybe you can comment what you think of the noah sound too?
I am not experienced with vocoder sounds but compared to anything else I have heard I found it unique, warm and understandable. I haven't heard something similar from Korg Vocoder demos for instance...
I have seen the html manual for vocodizer on plugiator as well but I didn't understand how to setup the synthesis for the carrier, synth-waveform, synth-filter (not the vocoder filter banks), etc...
This is the link to the AMAZONA Noah article:
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... cle_id=122
At the bottom of the article you will find the the demo, #10 vocodizer:
http://www.amazona.de/media/articles/so ... odizer.mp3
Unfortunately the demo is very short, but the best I could find...

Hello TiUser
I had a quick opportunity to try a few of the presets (all of them actually) - there are 30 presets in the Plugiator I am using.
The Plugiator was not connected to Plug-in Manager, so I didn't use any PC GUI editing to make my own presets yet.
As I worked through the presets I found a good mixture of clean, intelligible sounds, where the words were very clear, and quite a few weird robotic effects, which were also quite useful. Different presets had emphasis on high or low frequencies, so there's plenty to choose from.
With the on-board controls I could adjust the Microphone and synth gain, filter width and attack/release, plus the basic effect parameters - dry/wet signal of delay and chorus. These controls would be perfectly adequate for live tweaks once you have created your presets at home.
The results were good and controls were easy to use and understand. It should serve your purposes well.
BTW - I used a very basic Audio-Technica dynamic microphone (which I borrowed from my daughter)
My opinion is one thing, but try it for yourself. I think you'll be happy

Sorry all, I forgot to mention that my previous post was totally about Vocodizer presets. I was answering TiUser's question about the vocodizer

Other products like Korg R3 or Radias are more expensive and referring to my taste their vocoding sounds not as good as vocodizer on Noah...
Thanks folks!

Hi.
Thanks
a lot to reSEQEUNCer for your hands on check.
Your opinion is tempting enough to think about buying the box...
I was hesitating because the carrier functionallity is - compared to the original vocodizer on scope - dramatically stripped down. But UseAudio confirmed that at least the vocoder section in vocodizer is the same.
Concerning the NM G2 which is fully modular: Does it sound better than vocodizer? Which range of sound can you additionally do with the G2?
Thanks

Hi Jens
UseAudio plugiator uses the scope technology and may share it's sonic qualities but for the user it's not the same. You - as a user - can't simply load a scope Minimax into the plugiator, can you? The plugiator HW is also different to scope, a minimal version.
You simply can't put an external carrier to vocodizer because there is only one input! You also can't use any of the other synths as carrier because you only can run one plugin at a time on plugiator... (while you easily can on scope)
But if you refer to the sound only I also think that plugiator is quite the same - except UseAudio didn't answer my question which specs the D/A converter itself has (possibly 16bit/44.1KHz only??? who knows?)
I am not totally sure but I also believe that the synth plugins for plugiator are more or less the same. In a way I also doubt we will see continuous service on plugiator OS, bugfixing on the availiable plugins or even really new stuff... only time will show that. 'til then I am only interested in what I can see now.
Concerning the plugs:
FMagia isn't something I have been waiting for (reminds me on my ugly old DX21 I sold decades ago)
Drums and Bass isn't around the corner as well.
Minimax, Pro12 and Prodyssey are as good or bad as with ASB and scope. I would have liked to see some tweaks - like split or an arpeggiator/sequencer...
B4000? I am not sure... some people love it, others hate it. In the few samples - which are not very representative IMHO as well - I have heard I wasn't thrilled. NI B4II sounds much more appealing to me. As with many organs I don't think it's the organ modelling itself but the many things around like leslie, amp or overdrive/diestorion modelling that isn't a match for NI B4 II
So do I buy a plugiator just to get vocodizer?... Lets see, it's at last the only box in this price range that seems to offer vocoding on a high quality level.

I consider getting one as it's cheap, it provides decent sounds and it's a portable solution that does not include a pc. I'd like to hear from users though 1. how it integrates with a pc daw workflow,
2. if you can store user presets in the hardware unit (I mean in the dsp chips, not in the pc where you install the editor- I suppose there is some kind of software editor, right?), and
3.in case of a live situation, how one can deal with the problem of tempo- based effects (such as tempo- synced delays or arps) in case of tempo changes.
Also, is there a manual available for download? I can't semm to find any in USE site.
Thanks for all the feedback, guys!

Hi
Cheap is a relative thing... if you get something you don't need each buck is wasted...
My personal opinion is plugiator doesn't look to be too good for DAW purposes.
You can download/see the manual here:
http://www.use-audio.com/downloads/Plug ... l_v100.pdf
It works simply as a Midi expander, not more or less.
You get one sound at a time, no split, no layer, no multitimbral operation!
There is even no dedicated editor integration inside your DAW, you need to install an additional (freeware) tool to run your plugiator editor and DAW at the same time... hopefully that works... dunno.
Patches have to be selected via good ol Midi PC messages
There is no digital audio connection to your computer, means you need another two channels on your mixer or audio interface.
There is no total integration of setup like a virus ti offers.
Cheap enough?...
If you want a standalone ok sounding minimoog emulation or a decent vocoder it's for you but if you want to kick out half a dozend VSTi from your PC and hope to run these on the plugiator, forget it... keep your money and wait for SM Pro Audio V-Box which will be in the same "cheap" price range as plugiator.
See V-Box here:

To be expected to hit the streets in late autumn, suggestes retail price 399€.
just my 2 ct...

Hi.
Just another question to plugiator owners... concerning the included software...
How does the included PC software perform?
What is your experience with the software?
Is it easy to install?
Does it run stable?
How much CPU power does it need?
Do I need always to be connected to the internet?
Any comments are appreciated!
