All five of those Macs don't have 1% of the raw processing power of a modern purpose-built DAW PC, so you're not going to gain anything by outsourcing processing to them, except a rat's nest of wiring and a lot of hiss. Personally, I'd take one, install OS8 on it, and put M, UpBeat, TurboSynth, and any other old Mac program that is not available to the modern PC user yet is unique. (Note that it is incredibly difficult to get M and UpBeat to slave from MIDI clock, but it is worth it in the end, because nothing at all does what those programs do.)

Give the other four to Goodwill, and send the PC to the recycler because Bristol, while fun for a Linux user, is absolutely tragic when compared to even a small sampling of freeware and cheap VSTi.

This is a good point for sure.
I have my main DAW that im not even maxing out yet. Then after that my laptop is a core2duo sitting by if needed.
The only real benefit is stuff i can't do so i do like your recommendation.
I do have my OS8 disk laying around. WOW thats pre what came stock on these turds.

I would put OS9 and the Koblo synths on there. Darn I sure miss those synths!
