It is version 1.97 which was released in 2007. I am not sure if it was updated to compatibility for multicore computers because I don't have such computer so far so I can't test it. But I also plan some multicore computer in future.P.T. wrote:Artvera'
Have they updated the sfz player that they have on the Project5 site?
The original poster is looking to replace the sfz that he is having trouble with.
I'd like to know also as I am looking to get a quadcore machine.
So this theme is interesting also to me
But as I wrote here, there was some long thread about multicore computers and SE plugins and really some users had troubles with SE plugins and some users not. Maybe here can be done any survey, what users have type of computer if they don't have any problem with more instances of SE plugins. I would be very curious to result.

I was trying to figure out the same thing today;
I can't get sfz to work properly in Aodix (can't switch programs within bank), plus I don't like that it doesnt have ADSR controls. bs-0 crashed Aodix and wouldn't load in FLStudio. Shortcircuit is cool, but I don't like that I can't 'hotswap' programs via a GUI based menu like in sfz. My kvr plugin database search came up with stuff that looked like what I was after (i.e. Hopekiller), but they were all no longer available.

I'm also searching that kind of player right now..yet without success.

cheers

Well I've tried ShortCircuit 1 and have found my replacement for SFZ!!
It works a treat and also has a higher output to SFZ (which on certain things was a little too low)!
I've also downloaded Shortcircuit 2 but can't get the soundfonts to load in it?

In the Start menu, do shortcircuit2 > Database management. In the "patches" folder, create shortcuts to folders containing sf2 files. Note that sf2 files can't be stored here directly, only shortcuts are recognized (and they show up with the destination's name, which seems wrong). Double-click refresh database.cmd. In shortcircuit2 click "Zones", then "Patch" in the browser. Right-click in the browser and refresh database. Now all the sf2s in the shortcutted folders will show up. Click on one to load it. There are ways to load multiple sf2s, but I don't do it and don't know how. I'm actually not sure whether both "refresh database"s are necessary, but it doesn't hurt.dickiefunk wrote:I've also downloaded Shortcircuit 2 but can't get the soundfonts to load in it?

I'll try the multicore version of SFZ and Synthfont.
I'm really digging ShortCircuit at the moment!

You'll be very happy with Shortcircuit - it's a fantastic sampler.
But...also try out Crystal from Greenoak. It's known more as a semi-modular synth, but it also loads and plays SF2s. It is a fantastic synth to use SFs with. A pity it's not known more as a Soundfont player (it was one of the earlier ones to do it, and still one of the best). Not exactly the easiest synth to get to grips with, but a very good one when you do. Use a fair amount of CPU compared to some newer synths, but it really is like having almost a modular synth to play your SF2s through. Free too...

A bit blurry, but this is from the Greenoak site.
This shows the oscillator section - note you can do some FM stuff with it too...

The amp envelope section...

Notice the 8 slots to the right? All modulation destination options. And notice the bit that says "points"? You have up to 9 breakpoints in the envelope! Loopable and whichever shape you want.

The filter envelope - same 8 modulation slots, same 9 breakpoints and notice the things like saturation and shaper, and you get lots of filter types. Some very good ones even though old.

The LFO section - tell me what other freebie synth gives you that amount of options with LFOs (of which there are 6).
And there's an FX section which you can also modify with and by almost anything. Oh...and you can do wavesequencing like a Wavestation.
So...you can put Soundfonts through this synth.
You know you want it....
and it's free...
and it's here http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/download.html
Off you go...
I sound like an advert don't I.

ummm, i dont really think it's really a "soundfont player" so much as it has the capacity to use soundfonts as a source for waveforms; which doesn't necessarily produce the same result....

?
Huh?
It plays Soundfonts. So how's that different to a Soundfont player? I really don't get these weird definitions. I often see people posting about how some sampler isn't a rompler, or a rompler isn't a sampler, or a sampler with all the features of a synth isn't a synth. It plays Soundfonts, therefore it is a Soundfont player. You can load any Soundfont you want in Crystal, same as any "Soundfont player". As far as I can remember it actually has more functionality than most straight players - all that semi-modular stuff, and IIRC all 3 layers can play their own Soundfonts. Why won't it produce the same result as any other Soundfont player playing Soundfonts? Seriously - why won't it?
