To be a bit of a pedant, and while I know Eric is a Roland man, the Korg Prophecy was more the arpeggiator revival synth, and came out a good year or so before the JP-8000.

I guess Omnisphere will have a bunch of presets. One thing I think is a pain is that very few VST-synths allow me to switch presets with the computer keyboard. Instead I'm supposed to switch presets using the mouse. However, using the mouse all the time gives me constant pain in my arm.

How about Omni? Any different about this?

Well said. I don't like being too host dependent in this area and I am certainly spoiled by the Polac VST/i loader in Jeskola Buzz (which still provides the standard by which I judge all preset navigation) and Xlutop Chainer (which is almost as good in that respect. Even Sonar is growing friendlier in this respect BUT they all require that sounds be saved in a different preset format to work with them in this fashion, at least that was certainly the case in Atmosphere.

When creating .fxp presets using Atmosphere, I remember being quite thankful for the inclusion of at least the clickable up and down arrows at the time because many did not have even that much. I remember the earliest version of the Moog Modular V (for instance) did not. But with so many synths adding that functionality now, it would really be very helpful for them to allow you to cycle presets with the computer keyboard (preferably with the left and right arrows). This allows the user to switch presets with one hand while playing audition riffs with the other, for instance.

I hope Omnisphere implements this functionality and I am wishing Eric Persing and company very good luck in their continued excellence. Ever since they released their first software instruments they've gone from strength to strength, and that's not even taking into account the years of success with products like Symphony of Voices.

The way that Omnisphere enables you to quickly and easily browse through large numbers of patches (and other things as well) is one of it's most notable features. In fact, an upcoming video will focus entirely on browsing.

There is a short demo of the Browser in the Producers Edge Video 2 You tube video on page 1 of this thread...

...but I would be very interested in something more in depth from Spectrasonics inf future.

I have decided to categorise the ProducersEdge.com videos on page one of this thread...simply listing them as Video 1,2 or 3 does not really help if one wants to simply catch up on a particular area of Omnisphere.

after looking at all of the videos, omnisphere looks to be more than an 'atmosphere 2'! however, if it contains atmosphere's library, i guess there's no point in keeping atmosphere loaded!

i suppose a complete synth system would be omnisphere + trilogy + stylus rmx. this would save space on the ol'hard drive (especially when i push the libraries off to an external hd). (of course, we know this ain't gonna happen with hardcore synth headz!!) best bump your hd space beyond 2TB!

spectrasonic ought to gives us a discount for all of the registered soft synths omnisphere will replace in our systems!!!

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question if Omni will have ergonomic precautions, letting people like myself with mouse arm use the computer keyboard to do commands like switching presets.

Yes, you can make selections in the browser without using your mouse.

The arpeggiator seems to be interesting. I like my Arpeggio Sequencer, but it seems to go far away from it. Will they have the good idea to get out the sequence in MIDI out like I am the lonely one maybe to think to do with my own synths???

I've tried to do an evoluate apreggiator with SE : many hundreds connexions after, there is just a big bug!!! Must I hope??
