ha, too late! I've already got it for my own nefarious purposes.Watto wrote:Incidentally, the piano ogg is for Greg to mix with![]()
(nah, I promise to use its power only for good. )
Well! I may be alone in this, but I think starting with a short, simple backing and inviting all comers to do what they will works pretty well. We got some good stuff fairly quickly, without having to wait for solos that never arrive, and looks like we'll end up with a more polished version in the end.
btw, Watto, that's a _great_ piano sound you get
Yes. That's a human ear, all right.

I just realised that I forgot to pan the piano back to center, and turn it up
I was a tad busy, so sorry about that - hopefully 45% to the right (approx) is ok
Yep, I LOVE my upright piano - she's a beaut

Beautiful
Now we just need another head, and tongsong's solo if he shows up. I'll submit some more comping once that's been done, because I don't really want to be cut and pasted - doesn't quite seem like jazz, does it?

Sounds great! dunno, maybe the bass could come forward in the mix just a bit, but then I'm listening on cheap computer speakers. Drums could maybe come forward a little too with the bass.
Guitar comp might be redundant, worked ok on its own but maybe a little cluttered in there with everybody playing, especially on the bass solo. We can certainly lose it, nice thing about having extra pieces is we don't have to use them all.
well, whatever you think, I think we all trust your judgement

You're good.Watto wrote:Greg is a busy boy at the moment, I'm thinking
Yeah I have around three more weeks and then I'll have my BA. Exciting! But not very good for my free time.
I should be able to make those mix improvements, also. I've got some ideas, too, listening back to it.
What do you want to do for an ending of this tune? I know you wanted to leave it open for more soloists, but it'd be great if we had a nice little ending, too.

I reckon we should leave it there, yes - if there are more contributors, they can play on the next one
Ending-wise, that's up to beboop
Bear in mind that I'd like to comp through the last head.

Yup. And you're right, it's not like jazz to just copy and paste, especially since that would also limit the arrangement of the ending.Watto wrote: Bear in mind that I'd like to comp through the last head.
