It's the best impulse response, i've ever heard in my life. this is amazing.

you can also try the q-clone, b ut it's more oriented EQ
I have heard that the waves impulses are good but you have to buy their expensive plug-in to use them.

The best Impulse Responses I have heard so far are the ones that come with Altiverb for big spaces and this Library for drum booth and small rooms.

Basically used as a reverb to make it sound like what you are applying it to
was recorded in different environments such as a cave or hall or car or whatever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_response

It doesn't have to be reverb - although this is the commonest form.
IR is essentially capturing a snapshot of a room (reverb) or an effect unit, or even a processor (as opposed to a reverb unit) in the manner used by Focusrite/Sintefex on their LiquidMix/LiquidChannel/LiquidPre units.
LiquidMix uses dynamic convolution to image the feel of vintage Compressors & EQ units, and is very complex compared to the simple convolution used for reverbs.
It imparts the (almost exact) sound of the original to your audio.
The LM gives you 40 compressors & 20 EQ, plus the ability to make your own custom EQ - load a different band from different units for each of the 7 bands available to you. As an example, you could have the low shelf of the Pultec EQP-1A, the bass of an Avalon, or an Amek, the midrange of an SSL & the top end of a Neve. Or whatever you choose - the supplied impulses cover tracking EQ, Desk EQ (UK/USA, modern & vintage) & Mastering EQ. Very flexible.

Reverb is done by using SineSweeps (preferred method as used by AltiVerb) or else spikes - single sample or even a starting pistol/Balloon pop will do) & recording the output. If using sinesweeps it needs to be deconvolved (remnove the sweep leaves you with the reverb) before use.

Anyone know of an IR of the old fasioned Echo Chambers, like Phil Spector, et. al., used to use? I've been reading about those lately and would love to play around with one.

hi to you all!

wich one is your favourit IR reverb and why? i'm pretty new on IR. can anyone comment a brief description of the 4 or 5 best reverbs, their pros and cons...

instead of download all demo versions, months of trial & error, going through most of the patches around... etc, it will be nice to narrow the "top list" of reverbs and patches. Lets say 3 and 3.

it could be a lot of saving time for everyone, particularly for the newcomers.

looking forward for replies, Dave.

Hi. I'm completely new to using IR's. I've just downloaded SIR and have been reading through this thread and feel quite overwhelmed by SOO many IR's available

I only want to use SIR for reverbs but there seems to be SO many of them!!

Could anyone help me out here and recommend the best of the free ones?

Thanks

I see....mmmm....SIR is a good converlution plug to start whith...easiest way to make your own live IR's is whith a portable recorder like Zoom and a pop of a balloon...... :D ....whith hardware IR's you probably going down the route of a sine wave and a deconvolver......

Am I the only one to prefer Voxengo Boogex over Sir because of the latters bothersome fixed latency?
Sir2 looks very nice though, I'll admit.
