Ok, so imagine you are stuck in a prison camp/island with only one other musician.... you are bound and gagged.... The only way to make music is through farting.
Would you rather be stuck with someone who can blast out burts of flatulence that sound like a distorted beatbox breakdown, or someone who can make it sound like a jazz trumpeter bellowing it out one prolonged note at a time?
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

you can't ignore time. Time is always, the past, future, or present. Although there are some people who do make it seem like time can stop completely, it never really does. We perceive it as slowing down, and speeding up. I am quite sure that time is not a constant, but... it is always moving along, for us human beings at least, and definitely many of the other species on earth.

Time may not exist in the same sense though for sub atomic particles. WHo knows?

so, a long fart...... 22 minutes long, still has aspects of rhythm as related to the universe. or, the moment in time in which you are hearing it.

but my answer to your question is... I'd rather be dead than stuck in prison with anybody. Prison camps, suck. Not that I have ever been, but,.... it should be fairly obvious prison is a shit thing...

Look at GrooveRider, do you think he is having the time of his life? He could probably fart like a beatbox all day long, for his own entertainment, still, I am sure he'd rather be doing something else.

it was meant as an analogy.... i've been in jail before... i agree i would rather die than go back....
nonetheless, when i was in i did some singing and 'tapping' to make the time go b

similarly, i've 'jammed' with musicians whom have great rhythm and no concept of melody, tone, etc; and others who could cusomize your dream amp without ever being able to 'kick it to the beat' so to speak.
which yo would you rather have an afternoon of tea and such with?

I'd rather listen to timeless melodies, than pulsating rhythms.

If that is what you are asking. But, the original question was something about prison, and farting....

the question itself is absurd no matter how you ask it, it has no place in music theory and should be in EE, OT or the trash can. This should be used for real theory questions and education, not something as stupid as this.

this is the exception that proves the rule

edit: I also did not say the question is stupid, I said it's absurd...the point of it is stupid

In this case, there is a bit of both.

EDIT: beat me to it Hink.

You couldn't get him to tap out a four beat?

I think the answer is strive for both or niether.

I've been told I can sing I don't believe them because I've recorded it and I have evidence I can not.

I sing scales simply for relative pitch development. When my vocal pitch matches the guitar I know it's time to tune my guitar.
When someone asks me to sing a song I say I can sing or I can play I prefer playing.

 Under those circumstances I'd likely have other priorities than making music. So +1 for Hink's comment.

i personaly think my love of music would be overpowered by my wish not to live on an island with a perpetually flatulent man.
come on you ..... lets have some aphex acid.

I'd rather be with someone who is deficient in timbre than deficient in rhythm. I hate subpar rhythms.
