Well the original Squids Tron Collection was a SampleTank library that came with SampleTank 2 LE. Since LE was discontinued (nothing we can do about that, we don't make it) then you'd have to upgrade to SampleTank 2.5 full to use it in UB or Vista (just like other upgrades when operating systems change and things like that). But this particular upgrade is a good thing to do for other reasons as well... MUCH better features than the LE for example.

Now that we're coming out with a NEW sound set (SampleTron - which includes Squids Tron Vol. 2 in it) then yes if you wanted it you would have to buy that.

We don't make the software, we just make the sounds. So this is no different than us making two libraries and you having to buy the sample player - whether it was SampleTank or Kontakt or Reason or anything else.

What I suggest though is to get the upcoming Squids Rare Instruments which comes with a SampleTank 2.5 engine... and probably more sounds you like. It will read your Squids Tron Vol. 1 and it will read SampleTron too if you get it.

The obvious follow up to that is - why can you do the Rare Instruments collection in SampleTank format and bundle it with a SampleTank 2.5 engine and not a Squids Tron V2 in SampleTank format and bundle THAT with a SampleTank 2.5 engine? Is IK preventing you from making the V2 sounds available for SampleTank separately in order to prevent cannibalizing sales of SampleTron? If that's the case, it makes more sense (still a bummer, but out of your hands).

Also, if you're splitting Rare Instruments into 2 sections, are you going to include the 2.5 engine with both parts or only with part 1?

as I really don't want another sample player - will you make all of it available for Kontakt some time in the future? That'd be great.

oh, that's probably the third thread with the same topic, I just can't keep shut I guess ...

with all this vintage tron weird stuff -

If one already has ST (let's say I'd buy it in the GB right now), is it possible to only buy the sounds then - I'd consider springing for Tron1&2 and whatever smells like it.

secondly, sampletron will have most of 'squids tron 2' BUT not all of it, correct?

and are the "squids rare instrument" stuff available for individual purchase or just part of that bundle group buy thing that ends this month?

and furthermore, i cannot play my "squids trons vol. 1" in sampletron, right?

TIA to anyone who can set my dumb ass straight on this stuff!

The Reason Refill of it will be coming out in May as a download only on www.esoundz.com We'll have Vol. 1 and 2. SampleTron users can get a discount and visa versa.

Squids Tron Vol. 1 will not play in SampleTron (just in SampleTank and eventually Reason, Kontakt and maybe some other formats). But SampleTron has some of the best material from Squids Tron Vol. 1 & 2 reworked specifically for that engine. There's some overlap but they're different. But that's why you can get a crossgrade discount directly from SR only.

ok, squids, so pitch me, as an owner of vol.1 and for sure purchaser of vol.2 (when it comes out), why i should get sampletron? AND what discounts, as a owner of vol. 1, do i get for when i buy vol. 2 and/or sampletron? and i promise this is the last of my silly questions!

p.s.- and could you tell me about the squids 'rare instruments' things? are those available for individual purchase or just part of that bundle/group buy thing going on now?

After an hour of playing with it, I love it - and it's not the same as Squids Tron Vol.1 - it's different! It's more!

Of course, it sounds greats - there's a lot to explore - haha! i'm really impressed with the samples I've heard and played with so far -

it was worth the wait
