Hi I see esoundz sells drum core. I never see too much written about this plugin
I have jamstix, bfd2 and Addictive drums. plus the rex group buy! (drums are always fun for me).
ANyone use Drumcore? Any thoughts? Can it be used to drive BFD or AD?
Thanks.

There was a mention in another thread that Drumcore would be the next GB here, after the Rare/Vintage wraps up. If so, I might get real interested. It's a bit pricy at $199, but who knows where it might go with a good Squids package -- hopefully including some of the add-ons that eSoundz already sells.

As low as $99 with additional sound packs! So hang tight we'll have it up this week!funkychickendance wrote:There was a mention in another thread that Drumcore would be the next GB here, after the Rare/Vintage wraps up. 2.5 has been out over a year, I imagine they have 3.0 on the horizon.

I have drumcore 2 and the 2.5 update - none of it works on Vista i'm afraid. This has made it useless for me.
Just a heads up.

hey karma, thanks for the post. I can't find much on drumcore.
If you dont mind answering a couple of questions
1. Does it have a midi out so that it can use sounds in products like AD or BFD?
2. Is it sample based or loop based?
3. When you had it working, how did you like it?

Is there a demo of Drumcore?
I haven't found it yet.
I remember seeing Drumcore 1 or 1.5 in action, but I guess it's a bit different now.
I am tempted though (99$
)
Downloadable?
btw, Squids, That'd be the third GB for me, damn, you do have style

If you dont mind answering a couple of questions:
It uses rewire and I believe you must use the built in library of loops or the expansions. However, it does have a large midi library that is browseable and searchable. I'd have to boot it up in windows xp and use it for a bit to give you a fair review.
2. Is it sample based or loop based?
It is both loop based and sample based if I remember corrrectly. It has a midi file database of grooves and patterns. You use rewire to use it along with a host sequencer. It may have drag and drop like stylus rmx - I cannot remember if that was a new feature of 2.5 - never really got to use the newer version.
3. When you had it working, how did you like it?
I found Drumcore's inability to be a vsti, forcing you to use rewire, which I really don't like, a serious flaw and problem to be useable at all in my composing rig. It felt like a EWQL loop product using Intakt or Kontakt, but with WAY more restrictions. I liked it enough to buy it and upgrade it but, funny enough, not one pattern ever made it into any of my music. I use Stylus RMX and Jamstix 2 WAY more. Guru is also quite good.

I have Drumcore 2.0 but didn't upgrade to 2.5. I also found the Rewire thing to be a drawback.
Anyways, on the positive side, the audio loop side of the program is good. The loops have a nice feel to them and there is a good number of drummers and styles (including fills) to create a decent drum track. The "Gabrielizer" is kind of a cool feature but if you can get usable results is hit or miss.
However, I never found the MIDI kit side of the program to be all that good. There is no "round robin" sample engine to randomize the selection of hits so it suffers from the machine-gun effect pretty severely. That was a big let down from the beginning and a big reason why I didn't upgrade to 2.5. The kits do sound good and some have a nice vintage quirkyness to them but putting them up against EZDrummer you get that "oh, yeah, that's a drum machine" feeling from the Drumcore kits.
I did like the fact that Drumcore can be a loop librarian for all of your drumloops and you can tag them and search for them quite easily. Unfortunately, you have to drag/copy the loops to the Drumcore content folder and "importing" the content to Drumcore instead of just pointing the browser to folders already on your hard drive.
So, for me, the $200 I spent probably wasn't that well justified for the amount of usefulness I got out of it(how many times do we all say that!) but if you can grab it for $99 then I'd say go for it.

I've got all the Esoundz REX stuff, Jamstix 1/2, Addictive Drums, GURU and Battery 1/2/3. Can't get enough beats. But a nicely priced Drumcore would be an excellent addition. Can't wait.
Cheers

Berfab,
If you do not have Stylus RMX, BUY THAT NEXT - you will thank me for the next few years - it's that good.
You said you bought the rex stuff, but you did not list RMX, so I am not sure if you have it.
RMX is the best percussion synth in my arsenal - and I have nearly all of what you mentioned as well.
Stormdrum is another must have (and storm drum 2)
