Hey man, this place is a mausoleum after dinner.

Holy Jeez, vieris: you're the new compressor GOD! Thanks for this! :tu:

Maybe I'm just shallow, but I care how a plugin looks first, what it does second. Go ahead, flame me for that.

I don't see any meters on it.
Also the description doesn't say analog or vintage.

Glad you can take comments like that in stride. Stuff like that really irks me.

Thanks for taking the time to code something like this for us.

I make these 1st and foremost do to my own interests & needs. Functionality & Quality is what I'm worrying about. I'm an audio engineer & musician not a graphic designer. I do all visuals in gimp, I'm proud of that actually :) It's not what I really care about. If someone wanted to take that part over I'd be more then happy. The people that actually create music & need good tools will be the ones that benefit.

Flame you? No way. I am just happy I am not the only one around admitting and exposing the irrationalities of human nature. I am not gonna fall for this one either...it could turn out to be better than the ones I have already paid hundreds of bucks for. Aint worth the risk... :scared:

I care very much about how things look, bit of a design whore, but when it comes to plugins, sound trumps all for me. Usually.

Actually, I like the look of these plugins: clear, no-nonsense, utilitarian look. And since he's kind of modelling vintage compressors, it challenges the user to judge for him/herself whether it's worthy of the honour.

No insult to Vieris...good of him to make one and all that; but as he said - here's one - pretty well just because it was asked for.
It's one of those things that is only there because someone with no common sense thinks there ought to be one. I remember the thread about multiband comps with sidechains. It's complete overkill and unnecessary. Very soon the KvR webmyth will develop that multibands with individual sidechains are what pros use to make that something special. Whereas in truth, even widebands are rarely used with the sidechains. Sidechains aren't that useful. A good mix negates the need for one most times. Yeah, yeah...people will chip in with how useful it is to sidechain the bass with the kick - it's exactly places like KvR that brought into existence the notion that that technique is at all necessary. Once upon a time you just mixed your bass and kick properly and thumping and pumping tracks were made all the time without them. I can just hear in my head all the music that'll be put out soon with sidechained multibands...you thought RMSs of -8dBFS were too loud? Ain't heard nuthin' yet. We'll have square wave tunes with all individual bands square waved. Then we'll need 8 bands, then that won't be enough and we'll need 1024 band FFT based sooperdooper megamultibands with a sidechain on every single channel, that can be crosschained to every other channel.

Y'know...we're heading closer and closer to white noise being called music. :hihi:

Or an anal retentive receiving the Nobel peice prize?

Alls I can say is I've needed sc for more than just the kick/bass technique. I personally have needed it to layer hats with rides or even snares with toms. Albeit in small amounts but still anything that helps is a god send for me.

Thanks again and again vieris!!

Damn, this thing get worse and worse. First the GUI thing and then this: A FORCED use of the sidechain feature designed to create false rumours about pro techniques. This Vieris guy is a vicious fella for sure, I'll PM Meffy now and ask him to delete the thread right away.

Har.. Anyway, I'm sure that's not what he meant with his post, and most points are true, it's not necessary to use a complex sidechain setup like this for most things, and most times the result would be undesirable. But it has its place, and it can be used with good results for "normal" stuff as well as, and especially "creative" stuff.
