I'm a big fan of prog metal but there are many bands that are way better than Dream Theater. They have some great stuff (Scene From a Memory), but a lot of their stuff gets old rather quickly. Great technical skills but not so hot on the songwriting front.

Please make them take that ad away. Make it go away...

Opera ad blocks it well*.
*(I'll put the ads back on when the Rudess campaign is done. I normally don't mind the KVR banners)

Then again, Liberace was a great player, too.
That didn't make his music or performance less distasteful.
Now, if someone would kindly photoshop Liberace's face onto Jordan's "I want to squeeze your package, darling" pose, then the ad would finally make sense.

The problem with a lot of prog-metal musicians... is that NOTES do not equate to emotion or feeling or anything sounding like decent music. Many prog bands just lack the ability to discern between simple and effective, and complex and wanky.
