no the jamstix patch was not supposed to be late on the beat, but you are right it seems to be slightly off. I have to check with a Jamstix kit instead of Ironhead to see if I have the same problem.xoxos wrote:just out of curiosity, is the jamstix patch programmed to have late notes, or is there a sample that has some space at the beginning or ?? the timing sounds a bit late here and there?

the drums (or the pattern) ~drifts in and out a bit, subtle here and there.. i wasn't sure if that was the effect you were going for. there's jsut a few hits here and there which is why i thought it might be the sample.

hyperion does everything except the field recording, drums (jamstix again) and the lead synth towards the end. it's my first hyperion doodle, and i haven't done it justice - haven't time - but i have to say, unreservedly, it is absolutely f**king brilliant. very deep, but pretty immediate given its complexity. it'll give you more ideas than you know what to do with. closest i've come to the elation of playing with other musicians and having something "drop in your pocket". love it.
oh, and it doesn't seem to devour cpu on my shitty bargain-bin laptop either.

well the drum preset uses both the morphing and stereo delay in Ironhead, so it has a lot of movement by itself which is intended, but I nevertheless seem to get a systematic unintended latency which is perceptible in some contexts.xoxos wrote:the drums (or the pattern) ~drifts in and out a bit, subtle here and there.. i wasn't sure if that was the effect you were going for. there's jsut a few hits here and there which is why i thought it might be the sample.

Sorry, I've tried it on almost every vst host but I can't get it working...
it shows as a VST instrument, so it doesn't send any midi data... (nor any audio)
how should I connect it?
(I'm trying the demo)
thanks!

the midi pin needs to receive host midi clock, then it will send midi info. i apologise, the only hosts i use are ext 1.4, logic pc and temper.

how have you used temper so far? i have a license for it and use it, but not nearly as much as i'd like to, because so far the controller-driven (midi cc that is) realtime-shaping of shapes to compose on the fly is still a little strange, i think.
one of the reasons i got hyperion, actually, to do realtime experimental midi more easily.

only for very very simple compositions, such as mixing wave files. none of the 'shape' stuff.. i think i performed one non-linear effects routing, and that's it..
..i mention it because it's one of the few free hosts that's oriented towards sequencing. the setup is well-documented and i thought the developer communicated well. the documentation is adequate for the tasks i use sequencers for.. with reaper i was not able to locate midi sequencing.
i have a logic-for-pc background
i usually use ext and would probably revert to logic if writing more complex sequences.

I also tried this in orion plat 7.1 and temper . In both cases , there were blue questions marks in boxes the divider and step sections which I assume are related to the midi clock not being input .
Perhaps this is only for modular host then , no???

check the manual
[ ? ] is a random seed. if you drag those items vertically, they will change colour.

Well ,
If I bring up Talent in OP 7.1 , then any other VSTi instrument, and tell that insrument to recieve midi from talent , I'm in buisness. The same config with hype-ron does nada. I don't know of any special way to tell OP to send a midi clock signal into hype-eron . Thanks anyhow.

I can confirm this. I thought I'd use the preset genetics to see what it could come up but no joy.contrary wrote:Well ,

Series works using the receive MIDI from generator settings but Hyperion doesn't.
I don't really use Orion any more so I could be wrong but if I remember correctly it only transmits channel 1 data so you'll lose all the extra functionality anyway.

Hi xoxo,
I downloaded the Hyperion demo version & got it inside my FLStudio, what is the setup to make the hyperion work?
I set both ports of hyperion & the other voice to [1], and set the hyperion Midi setting to {Show Midi input ports} while the other instrument is set to {Show Midi output ports}, but got no sound at all...

You've just got it the wrong way round, Hyperion should be set to MIDI out and the other synth should be set to MIDI in.phreaque wrote:Hi xoxo,

Changed them, but still not getting any result, is it because the tempo setting?! Because the Demo version of the mentioned plug in is limited to certain tempo valuesazrael wrote: You've just got it the wrong way round, Hyperion should be set to MIDI out and the other synth should be set to MIDI in.
