You all know what I'm into by now - droney spacey art-metal type shit. Anyway.. I was guffing around with Amplitube Metal pretty much all day. Didn't think much of it.. until I turned off the cabinet modelling and routed it through this:

Then I proceeded to record it, and tweak it with some post-eq. I got a few things I posted elsewhere, but then I did this.

Clean tone: Metal Clean T - delay and phaze nine pedal.
Distorted solo lead: Metal Lead T - Delay and "phase nine" pedal.
Chords: Metal Lead T.

Don't know whether anyone around here is into this kinda stuff.. but to be honest.. I'm so impressed with putting ATME through my hardware amp, that I'm giving serious thought to the Stomp IO for rehearsal, gigs, and recording.

Kinda defeats the purpose, though?

Sounds nice, but your description raised my expectations a little too high, I'm afraid.

Weren't you able to get these sounds in your software only?

Post

Depends on your purpose.

If your purpose is to get a wide range of sounds for band practice and gigs, but a Pod doesn't please your ear, and ATME (AT2, JHE as well I suppose) DOES please your ear.. then it meets the purpose.

If your purpose is to get a decent tone for quiet practice, then yes, that is the antithesis of what I've done here.

But.. let me propose this; I don't have the $1000 odd it would cost to buy myself a Triple Rectifier amp head. ATME sounds workable (although further tests shall be done!) to me at present.. so... it could be a decent alternative to a Pod+Atomic Amplifier.

My amp combination essentially acting like the power-amp section of AT2 - okay, that's not strictly true.. but its a metaphor that should emphasis what I'm trying here.

I'm going to take my laptop and Satellite soundcard into rehearsal on Wednesday, and see how it fares.

Nope. I really don't rate the cabinet modelling in Amplitube products, this way, I get a real cabinet moving some air, and I'm interacting with the speaker in ways that you can't with software.

I found it to be too clean, as far as production goes, I would love to hear more saturation and grit on the drums and the guitar.

Overall cool song, but it didn't have enough hooks to draw me in...

Post

Repetition is enough of a hook for me. :hihi:

Absolute convincing for me, great sound! And I like the melody too, by the way. Just that I only have the AT metal demo, and none of your hardware gear :hihi: . Thanks much for sharing. (And the repetition at the beginning is great, for my taste)
