Yes, lots of people bought other products while they waited... and yet in the recent poll asking what people's favorite guitar amp sim was Amplitube 2/JH rounded up 34% of the vote. More than twice the runner up. (Guitar Rig at 13%)

Now, I've played with Guitar Rig 3 extensively. Great effects attempting to cover up piss poor amp emulations, in my opinion. I wish I could buy NI Guitar FX, but I don't think that product will ever exist. (or is it Reaktor?)

Anyway, you could complain about missed release dates, but IK Multimedia is in a country where they killed a man for writing legislation to give employers the right to fire someone for being a bad worker. They do not like to work a lot. (Not racist, I'm Italian and man I wish the U.S. would adopt a bit of this attitude)

So I'm eager for AT Metal too. I've also learned that release dates mean next to nothing. I also know the anger of buying something that is clearly still in beta and rushed out the door. So let's give IK some slack because frankly, I bet their Metal version blows the doors off Revalver. IMO, it'll be more than worth the wait. Calm down every body. There's a nice high gain model in AT2 already that should keep you shredding for a little while.

One can only imagine how many sales IKMM lost to Guitar Rig, Waves GTR, Guitar Rig 2, Waves GTR 2 - all released in between the time AmpliTube 2 was announced and finally began shipping. It looks like they're going for a repeat with AmpliTube Metal and Revalver MKIII, Revalver Metal Edition, Softube Metal Amp Room, etc... all of these will have been announced and released in between the time AmpliTube Metal was announced and finally begins shipping.

BTW, Metal is not in StompIO. If you own AmpliTube 2 and you buy StompIO, you get Metal free... when it is released, which IKMM lead everyone to believe would be about a month after StompIO started shipping... at this point I think any AmpliTube 2 owners who bought StompIO early should probably be feeling a bit mislead and perhaps even ripped off.

yeah...And I kinda like the spanish siesta myself and wish we'd adopt that.

I've discovered a nasty bug in X-Gear 1.1.1 (Windows):
When loading an AmpliTube 2 preset (.at2p) that uses "American Tube Vintage" EQ, it loads "American Tube Clean 1" EQ instead. X-Gear loads its own presets (.atxp) with "American Tube Vintage" EQ correctly.

Please confirm.

I've discovered that ATME really doesn't work all that well with SaxLab2 or RM5. Oh, hang on, they're all vaporware...

I think they just can't fit the all mighty sound of this into a regular VST :

You need to download v1.2.

Damn, that seriously sounds hardcore. Dang, should refer this to someone. (Hopefully it works well on a Mac laptop.)

OK, had some time to play with the software. Overall I like what I hear, not being a metal head myself.

The pedals as usual per the "new" Amplitube series are tops. Th wah is superb. I think IKMM have nailed that pedal modeling process completely.

The amps are petty good, some a bit too hot for my own usage. Where I have the feeling that something is missing, is the cab simulator. It tends to over-exaggerate the highs and the fizz, making the overall listening experience a bit harsh on the ears. Maybe this is the desired effect though :)

Next, I am trying this with X-Gear, and combining the Metal Pedals with some Hendrix's amps, and maybe loading them in MKIII to user it's cab simulator.

So far so good.

I would like the opinions on that topic from Metal heads, which I suppose are the tagrget audience for this software.

Same here dude! I've always felt the cabinet section of PBAT products were a bit whack. Some funny stuff happens also when you change sample-rate.

The amps themselves though, they're really good I think, when NOT routed through the cabinets.

Yep, the amps are great, and by listening to your clips on the other thread, I really digg what I am hearing by you re-routing the cabsim to real hardware.

So you are thinking of buying a StompIO as well? If you do, keep us posted of your findings, as we still have some questions un-answered by the previous "first" reviewer ;)

Since I will now have all of IKMM guitar products line (Squids, where is my copy dude? ;)), the stompIO would be the last piece of the puzzle. I am just not sure that I will gain anything sonically over my current setup. If it is for control only, and no other gain, I might re-think it when StopmIO 2.0 comes out in late 2011
