As far as I'm aware, my mind and body are independant of any kind of VST technology; so I guess I can live without any of them.
However, to answer the intent of your question:
I have plug-ins that total well over £1000. I used to use Ozone 3 to master everything, I often use it with PSP Vintage Warmer 2 now, sometimes I don't use either.
I guess the one plug-in that has ended in most of my tracks on most channels is Fruity Parametric EQ; if ever I switch from FLS as my main host I'd try to find a parametric EQ that was as similar to this as possible.

Synth1 - because a simple subtractive synth is really all you need.
Para EQ 2 - its like an EQ and spectrometer in one.
Soundgoodizer/YouWaShock! - gives balls to anything headed for mp3 release.

1st this plugin
coz this is the antithesis of every plugin hype.

2nd helix
coz it thrills me I am using a synth which screws down many commercial, sometimes overpriced plugins.

3th phatmatik
really used this slicer vst a lot. since it came out, i load it up in - say - every second track.

Nice :) Quick question Shy - I know blue has curves modeled on a bunch of different analogue designs, but sound-wise is it a very clean/transparent EQ or is it more of a coloured/vibey one? Always wondered...

CSR finds its way onto every project. Specifically the Grand Hall patch, in varying degrees of application.

These days, I find myself starting everything with either GURU or Addictive Drums, sometimes both.

Finally, MrRay 22 has a warmth and feel that I just can't find in any of the dozens of other Rhode/Wirly instruments and patches (paid and free) that I own. And I have found tons of non-traditional uses for it.
