Hi,

This clap sounds everybody is using, are they recording/ synthesizing them themselves or is it any samplecd they are using?

I make something similar with frequency modulating a sinewave with lowpass filtered noise, but I suspect that its not the common way to make this sound.

Are they recording several claps, and giving them tiny delays?

Thank you !!!

Or its a few different claps layered together.

If you could upload a very short example of the exact sound for us I'm sure we could be more helpful. :D

A lot of 'em these days use somethin like a Motif or Fantom for most of the sounds, so multiple clap samples seems the most plausible.

Yes, they're mostly 808 (I think I've heard some 909) claps that have been mixed with other sounds. I've even noticed that some hip-hop snare samples that I have a very clappy - as if a snare sound was combined with a clap.

You could try slapping Piff Diddly or 50 Pence around the face with a haddock and sample the result.

Or, layer together various claps with a snare that has avery short release & decay envelope.
If it ain't broke, use it more!

What I do is record me clapping like twelve times and put them into my host and move each clap around till it sounds good..
