How to use Compressive's external sidechain2007-10-02T08:50:40+00:00Afew people have been asking how to set up Compressive's external sidechain in different hosts so I thought I would post some examples. Please note that if the sidechain is set to 'internal' then inputs 1+2 are used for the sidechain and if the sidechain is set to 'external' then inputs 3+4 are used for the sidechain

Podium has possibly the most elegant sidechaining abilities of any host I have tested. It automatically sets up Compressive Pro as a global plugin, rather than an insert, and creates three mappings for it - Input 1+2, Input 3+4 and Output. The plugin can then be used as a bus through the 'Send' dials. It is slightly more complicated to set up but is really flexible
In Tracktion you need to wrap Compressive Pro in a rack filter on the track you wish to compress and then copy this rack to the track to use as a sidechain.
In Reaper you need to add the channel you wish to use as a sidechain as a 'Receive' on the channel you want to compress and set the received channel send to 1/2 => 3/4.
