im in the middle of making one of these, or having a go anyway...kinda doing it blind, making it up as i go, using other ppls ideas and mods from SE etc...so far, it works, and actually sounds pretty good, but im not really sure if it is even technically a multiband dist unit....
basically, the sound comes in, goes to 3 filters, then comes out as low/mid/hi...each of which goes to another filter (LP/HP/BP/BR) with freq/reso then to a asymetrical drive unit, then all 3 into a limiter and wet/dry mix
so, am i going in the right direction?
i dont have the beta with me now, but will upload in a few days when ive 'finished' it for you to disect (with the .se1 file if anyone wants to have a gander)
thanks
Dave

Here's the general premise of how it should work:

Make sure you use shelf filters for low and high. Anything, like the extra round of filters you mentioned, can be added to fancy it up, but your core signal flow should go bands, distortion, mixer. You'll probably want a gain control per band, too.
Play around with the second set of filters you've added, they might be of greater use after distortion, to shape the noise a bit.

Hey, multibands distortions are always welcome
One or two suggestions if you wish :
One useful thing is to add HP and LP before splitting the signal (at least, before sending the dry signal to the efx), as the disto will reaact differently on the low end if some very low end is cutoff a bit, etc.
There are several mb dist around (well, not so many, but at least half a dozen), but not a lot do have interesting modulation options to liven up the sound...
My 2 cents

The frequency dividing section should not be over looked. I use a Lowpass/Phase cancellation method to get Lossless division between the bands. Using filters only can leave frequency holes in the signal. I have a diagram on my site.

ok, having taken some points on board from yesterday, heres what i have so far....i will take on other points and any more i get and update/improve as is necessary..so feedback is most welcome, thanks

donwload from here:

no presets yet, i have some but i forgot to load them into this version...
it basically goes like this...
signal> into 3 filters(low shelf/eq peak/high shelf) each to its own asym dist> filter (lp/hp/bp/br) >limiter
gain for 1st filter and for each output after 2nd filter

The plugin is very stable, I like the sound but a manual would be usefull for me because I'm not sure on what some of the knobs are doing!

This distortion works out pretty well, it goes from low gain to heavyish midrange. Thanks!

ok, i have updated/improved Koroder...looks like this now

NEW:
improved band separation
3 more 'drive FX added, for more subtle effects (drive knob is for those 3 only, not asym drive)
download here:
http://www.box.net/shared/rnvmgdwu88
i have included 12 presets, but these are just randomised ones very slightly tweaked, nothing special. I have run vox/guitar/drums and 303 thru this and am very pleased with the sound so far.
feedback very welcome
Dave
