I used it for 4 months while i was working overseas and am a sx3 user. Its not bad and has a lot of potential, I too will keep an eye on its development.bduffy wrote:Actually, that's not totally true. Reaper is quite amazing and would be a relatively easy transition from Cubase. I keep my eye on it.

So what modules seem to be the gems of the bunch?
As far as myself FFC-1 & LVA-1 get allot of action. I'm finding i grab the HPF-1 allot. It has replaced all those times i usually use a full EQ just for a Highpass. The width control is also something i didn't have control of with conventional EQ's. EQ(L,M,H)-1 have come in handy for those specialized EQ needs. EEQ-2 has become my powerhouse EQ.

I got good results with LVA-1. The rest isn't anything to replace my current EQs and compressors.
I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to use these because the GUIs don't seem to tell you how long your attack or what your filter bandwidth is. Also I wasn't sure which control in EEQ-2 sets the bandwidth and which the gain and which lit button position indicates which settings. So I guess it's all about playing by ear.
I found the gain reduction meter quite strange, I don't usually compress more than 6db at peaks so most of the meter is left unused. By the way, what level is it when all but one light is lit? Is it 0-6db or 6-9db?
I wonder if I'm the only one who liked FBC-1 more than FFC-1.

You have to think of these like classic processors UA/API style. This is something i like about them. Take a 1176 or the API 500's they function in a similar manner. I prefer this to mixing by number myself.I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to use these because the GUIs don't seem to tell you how long your attack or what your filter bandwidth is.
If you listen to them it should be pretty strait forward. The outside ring is width & the center in gain. the LED on is ON/24dbAlso I wasn't sure which control in EEQ-2 sets the bandwidth and which the gain and which lit button position indicates which settings. So I guess it's all about playing by ear.
Once again it's just a reference indication. The 1st light is 3db.I found the gain reduction meter quite strange, I don't usually compress more than 6db at peaks so most of the meter is left unused. By the way, what level is it when all but one light is lit? Is it 0-6db or 6-9db?
I wondered this myself.. Feed-Back is usually preferred by most. I guess we are a bunch of drummersI wonder if I'm the only one who liked FBC-1 more than FFC-1. Rolling Eyes

FFC-1, LVA-1 and EEQ-2 are the ones I use the most. I love FFC-1 on drums, and LVA-1 on bass. Haven't spent a great deal of time with the others yet though.vieris wrote:So what modules seem to be the gems of the bunch?

Yes, but I think it's better if you know what a knob does before you turn it. Otherwise you wouldn't need any text in GUIs at all.vieris wrote: If you listen to them it should be pretty strait forward. The outside ring is width & the center in gain. the LED on is ON/24db
BTW I think the ring is a bit too small, maybe you should make a version for visually impaired.
I understand this kind of thinking, but I really prefer having some kind of a reference when learning to use a new compressor. Some may have maximum release time of 1s, some 3s. Also minimum attack time can be 0.1s-1s. I just think it's more work and a longer learning curve. Once you know the plug-in, you can work easily without references, though numbers may make recalling settings easier.Niksounds wrote:use ears.. not numbers for God.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for these plug-ins and hope to see even more in the future.
