Hey guys,

So I managed to record a song with En Esch, former KMFDM member and now frontman of Slick Idiot, one of the founders of much of Industrial music! If you can, have a listen to it at my myspace page, reverbnation page, others... please listen! I'd link it as an mp3, but I would prefer to try and make a few bucks in mp3 sales off of it, which I am! Yay!

The Tech specs of this song:

Tracked in Ableton Live, Drums with the Impulse (using all samples), all synths with NexSyn. Samples from a speech by our fearless leader. Mixed in Cubase LE. En Esch records in Logic. My vocals have some distortion, orange vocoder and delay on them.

Thanks guys.

nice work, Brian. I pretty much grew up on wax trax records, so his voice is incredibly familiar to my ears. Good for you, my friend. The recording is solid and well mixed. I actually remember a song KMFDM made that trashed on Bush senior, too. :hihi: (there may have been many of them)
Congrats, must have been a head trip to work with a hero like that.

Thanks guys!

Basically, Slick Idiot came out to play Albuquerque a couple years ago, and I was one of the few at the show thanks to poor promotion on that part of the promoter. It was amazing, and afterwards I hung out with everyone in Slick Idiot, but I didn't meet Esch. I was at the club for a long time, and I finally had to leave because of work at 5am the next day, so I pulled out one of my CDs and gave it to Victoria, and said, "if you guys have a chance to listen, cool - if not, no worries".

Much to my surprise, a few days later I got a message on myspace from En Esch, saying that they had listened to my CD while driving thru the Nevada desert and that it was great music for night driving, and that I was a "Talented and sensible programmer" - then he said that he'd like to talk to me about doing some vocal work for one of my songs someday :0

I replied to Esch and said that'd be great, he said it'd be awhile because he was touring and then back to Germany and such. In the meantime I wrote "Welcome to Post War USA", thinking of KMFDM a lot while writing it, so I had this thought that I'd ask Esch to do something on that. He said he was into it, I sent him the lyrics and track, and he gave me back a TON of vocals, clean versions, effected versions, all kinds of great stuff. I mixed it so fast after getting the tracks it was almost silly :)

So that's pretty much it, Esch even has the song as his profile song on myspace right now :) Thanks for listening guys!
