MoHa!
Without doubt one of the best live bands around at the moment.
Clip for sound quality, so you can actually hear what they do:

Clips for sheer intensity and raw energy:

And yes, the Jaga Jazzist guy is playing keys and guitar at the same time.

Groet, Erik

Never heard the Cocteaus?

I'm sooooooooo jealous, I'd love to discover them for the first time again. I bought a few albums on the strength of hearing one track, and the rest is history. Liz Fraser has the most amazing voice, couple that with Robin Guthries totally unique guitar style and you have musical perfection. If you like this song, you're in for a treat of a lifetime if you search them out.

I'll bump this for the poor unfortunates who have yet to discover the Cocteaus  :D

Well Ian I'm chuffed to bits that I could point someone to a song that I find so beautiful and which makes me realise I have a bruise on my soul because it lays a soothing hand upon it. It's the highlight from 'It'll End in Tears' by This Mortal Coil, but there are other tracks on there which are well worth a listen.

I lived on almost nothing but the Cocteau Twins from 1987 until 1995. Them and Seefeel are the only bands my wife (then girlfriend) turned me on to. I can't listen to most of it anymore. Makes me too nostalgic for my youth.

But I hear Liz Fraser's influence in all kinds of music today, and it's all so inferior to her. We went to see them in concert at least 2 or 3 times.

Odd thing is, I don't know this song, and have never seen them perform with a live drummer. ??

Might as well add an old one from them...Wax and Wane, interesting retro/minimal live version:

I'm sorry but I just hate the cocteau twins. This one girl I use to work with at this coffee shop in Boston one summer tried to sing teir songs to me while we were working. Most irritating shit ever. Strangely, I've had numerous girls i've dated try and impress me with singing their songs drunk since then. They also seem to like to sing sublime's Santaria like 6 times a day, even if you tell them to shut up.

The girl used to also sing this song too.

her name was lara.

Oh god when i hear that song i want to kill small animals. please make it stop.
