If I instantiate the AU I am only seeing 2 in and 2 out so I was wondering how do I configure Augustus Loop v1.8 to the new 6 in 6 out configuration?

There are two plug-ins in the bundle - Augustus Loop and Augustus Loop Fx Loop.
If you instantiate Augustus Loop you'll always get 2-in 2-out. You need to instantiate Augustus Loop Fx Loop to get the 6-in 6-out version.

I can see the FX loop 6x6 plug in in Live 6 but not in Logic Pro 8.

I think that's expected. Logic's plug-in handling is nowhere near as flexible as Live's.

Ok thanks that seems to work. Is there any documentation on how to use the 6-6 configuration?os wrote:If you instantiate Augustus Loop you'll always get 2-in 2-out. You need to instantiate Augustus Loop Fx Loop to get the 6-in 6-out version.
Any reason you don't simply publish {2,2},{6,6} in Augustus Loop and not have the FX version?

If you made an AU Midi controlled effect would it work in Logic then ?

Jeremy:
There's two pages on it in the user manual.
Some hosts (e.g. Live) don't let you choose between published i/o configs, unfortunately.

Not sure what you mean - Augustus Loop is and always has been an AU MIDI-controlled effect.miketimothy wrote:If you made an AU Midi controlled effect would it work in Logic then ?

Then why not have both? If live just takes the first I/O config then it will require the FX version but other hosts will not.os wrote:Some hosts (e.g. Live) don't let you choose between published i/o configs, unfortunately.

It's a fair point - but I have to provide the other (fixed 6/6) version for some hosts, so I don't really gain anything from effectively making yet another configuration.

In Logic there are AU Effects that can be loaded as AU Instruments so they can receive midi more comprehensively and also access multiple outputs AFAIK.

Yup, you can load Augustus Loop up as an AU instrument.miketimothy wrote:In Logic there are AU Effects that can be loaded as AU Instruments so they can receive midi more comprehensively and also access multiple outputs AFAIK.

But not the 6x6 version.

Indeed. What can I say - Logic just isn't very good sometimes.miketimothy wrote:But not the 6x6 version.

I just had a conversation with the guys at Apple. Sadly there's simply no way this can be made to work in Logic as it stands. I've logged an official request to have Logic enhanced in this area in future.
