yea i agree. at the very least its a cool way of getting inspired.

i didnt get my ds with the idea of making music, but ive been amazed at whats come out for it.
i have had some really fun jam sessions with just elektroplankton and an amen break looped.
and the wifi-midi x/y controller is super fun and can actually be *used*.
and nitrotracker is really pretty slick now.

i havent had time for ds glitch yet... but oh boy!


ive been waiting for this ds-10 for so long it hurts. when the rom hits, i will be there and bring news back to the thread.

btw, if you get a ds, and you should, DEF get one of the 'exploits' for it. unlimited free games aside, you do NOT wanna miss the homebrew stuff.

oh the break wasnt in the ds.
i do it with audio like vurt was sayin, i think.

i plug the ds into one mixer channel in FL. and load a loop right in FL. if im feelin ballsy i will but tapeit2 vst on the master.

so then i just have a loop playing, with a serperate fx channel for the ds, and i can just tweak whatever id like, and tapeit records the whole mess.


but, that ds glitch thing will load a loop and do some killer shit! maybe today i will play wiff it....

you could record it using the fish, wouldnt sound so great i imagine.
elektroplankton is great fun in some breeds, others not really my thing but it does give a great idea of whats ahead and possible.

yea theres a couple versions around... i dont really know whats 'official'.

the latest i have is v.080521

but, it rocks out w/cox out already.
i cant imagine have a couple of doods with these together onstage...

the DS is made for children and these creatures are not too excited about step programmers or synthesizers or paint brush applications. The DS is a nice tool for a graphical artist or a musical artist but only a handful of homebrew is available. Nitrotracker is nice but a bit too limited. WAV chopping is very cool but it isnt too precise. The pitch algoritm is poor and there are no filters/eq's.
I am gonna try Glitch DS and that scratch game this evening

pretty neat stuff, resolution is 1024 px and you can playback your drawing skills afterwards

I would kill for a nice official Tracker game a la Renoise and a Brush game a la Alias Sketchbook

wow! Both my kids have a DS!! hopefully by the time they get bored with them, there will be loads more music software available!! Cool! Band in a box?? band in a trouser pocket more like! Bloody hell, you could travel to gigs, complete with all you need on a microscooter!
