Ahem, acutually I own a couple of electric guitars and electricacoustics. I'm a decent guitarist, just not good enough to be a guitarist in my band.
It's also worthy of note that a keytar costs alot more than a guitar, sadly.

Roland, it's up to you to resurrect the keytar.

I thought the stomp boxes are pretty spot on and I've got a Rat, a Phase 90, and have enough use with a Big Muff Pi and a DS-1 to say I'm familiar enough with them to know what they sound like. I'm also especially impressed with the Rat, because it has the reverse tone control that the stomp box does unlike the Line 6 version.
Aside from that, I haven't messed around with the amps too much, but the Mesa Boogie clean channel sounds great. I gotta say, I've become a big Amplitube fan since version 2.

some of the stomps are indeed very good.
Let's see, I uninstalled my demo to make sure I didn't end up liking it enough to buy it
The part I liked the best was the cabs. They were allot of fun.
One thing I get kinda tired of is the same-ol' verb/comp/delay/yadda in the back section. For the kinda money I've/We've shelled I would prefer more unique.........but it's just a small thing.

My Metal arrived in the mail today, and I've only skimmed through some presets and blasted off a few riffs and solos with my Strat...but, I'm pretty pleased. I think this package complements the AT2 and the ATJHE quite nicely. I'm not a big fan of churning grungy deathmetal guitar, or hairball-on-fire solos, but this fills in something missing that I was looking for. The occasional angry/psychotic late 20th century screech.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I thought the stomp boxes are pretty spot on and I've got a Rat, a Phase 90, and have enough use with a Big Muff Pi and a DS-1 to say I'm familiar enough with them to know what they sound like. If Auen Cross is a real metallista, I defer to his/her judgement.

Isn't the Phase 90 included in the standard Amplitube 2? How did you find the A2Metal DS-1 and Boss SD-1 compared to the simulanalog emulations?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I thought the stomp boxes are pretty spot on and I've got a Rat, a Phase 90, and have enough use with a Big Muff Pi and a DS-1 to say I'm familiar enough with them to know what they sound like. The regular Amplitube phaser is the Phase 100, not the 90. Also, I never liked the Simulanalog stomps to be completely honest. Their JCM900 was great for freeware but sounded a lot like the series 2.0 Pods in that it felt closed in (both frequency and dynamics) with a lot of room for improvement. The DS-1 in AT2ME sounds like an actual DS-1 though.electro wrote:Isn't the Phase 90 included in the standard Amplitube 2? I don't have that much experience with the other two distortions (the OD, Metal Zone) in real life to really comment on them though. I'm probably never going to use the Metal Zone, and the OD sounds pretty good, but is a bit to bright for my tastes.
The thing I don't like in AT2ME is the actual amps oddly enough...I'm not a metal guitarist by any means, so they really just do little to nothing for me. The clean channel on the Mesa is pretty good though.

Is A2 Metal worth it for just the Electro Harmonix Big Muff, Boss DS-1, SD-1, Vox Wah and MXR Phase 90 Stomps alone? How well did IK nail those 5 stomps?

It was for me. Oh, and don't forget the Pro-Co Rat model. That one is my all time favorite distortion and they absolutely nailed it.electro wrote:Is A2 Metal worth it for just the Electro Harmonix Big Muff, Boss DS-1, SD-1, Vox Wah and MXR Phase 90 Stomps alone? How well did IK nail those 5 stomps?

I admit it's been awhile since I demoed it, but I HATED the phase 90 stompelectro wrote:MXR Phase 90 Stomp
I had a phase 90 and the thing that is so cool about them is they are somewhat "uni-vibe" ish.......the emu here was nothing close
The guitar rig phase 90 is much closer imho.

I've only got a re-issue Phase 90 (not an original from the 70's or anything) but I think they did an awesome job on it. I can't think of anything particularly uni-vibe-ish about it either. To each his own I suppose. That must be why they invented demos.hibidy wrote:I admit it's been awhile since I demoed it, but I HATED the phase 90 stompelectro wrote:MXR Phase 90 Stomp![]()
