Covers are okay.

Covers that you previously completed for another project are NOT okay!

(We just want people to make an effort specifically for the contest, rather than pulling stuff from their archives and shortening it to the time limit.)

Since this IS the gist of the rule why not reword it to - "your entry must be created specifically for this contest and started no sooner than the contest announcement." ?

I have been around kvr since 2005. I am glad you are not sick of me yet.

I am listening to a lot to Dave Martone these days, trying to get some of his chops down. I listen to a lot of jazz guys too, but consider myself to be a rocker through and through.

You are right on the money when you say "too many faces and hands." I hear new musicians almost weekly that blow me away. Usually it makes me want to practice, but there are times when I just want to quite all together (at least for a day:-)
