I'll have to read about Techrep, must not be exclusive as Audiomidi (where I got mine) was featuring the Plugiator front and center and still has them in stock but is not listed as a U.S. distributor. (edit, duh on me since that's distributor not dealer though Audiomidi was definitely listed there before).
I do not have the card, but when I upgrade my controller, I may get one - though I've heard some bad things about the CME controllers lately so I'd rather try one somewhere first.

Maybe it'S different in US but in germany there is only one distrubutor for use audio which does not sell to customers at all... but just delivers in quantities to dealers, and there are quite some dealers of any size out here...buscemi wrote:... not listed as a U.S. distributor.

BTW, for a while there is a new manager software v 1.0.1 out... for both PC and MAC...
...but what the heck is the difference between the plugiator and plugiator ASX manager version? The HW is barely the same in both... anyone any clue about that

I had edited, since there is a difference between distributor and dealer, though I still note that AudioMidi WAS there before and still sells the product and I believe Use-Audio called them a distributor (though clearly technically a dealer).TiUser wrote:Maybe it'S different in US but in germany there is only one distrubutor for use audio which does not sell to customers at all... but just delivers in quantities to dealers, and there are quite some dealers of any size out here...buscemi wrote:... not listed as a U.S. distributor.

Hello Hillbilly
I've had a chance to play with one of the ASX boards - it seems to do all that's needed in the UF50 I put it in.
The Mac Plug-in Manager works on it exactly the same as the Plugiator.
I've seen some screen shots of the Drums 'n' Bass GUI as well - it looks pretty interesting for doing retro drum machine creation.

I got a plugiator, and bought all the plugs....man, it's great!
I don't think that the 'manager' software is quite up to speed (yet), but it was bought just to add some sounds on to my performance rig.
In that context; it's a stone-cold bargain (especially now!)
Audiomidi WAS the US distributor; must have been just a temporary thing.
Get it into the country...
But: I don't think that the plugiator is seeing much US market interest. Maybe it's because the plug-ins inside/available are (at least) a couple of years old; heck: some of the plugins' ASB counterparts (Minimax, PRO-12, Prodessey, & B4000) are STILL sitting around in warehouses waiting for homes.
Or maybe it's not doing well because peoples' expectations have changed too dramatically for a little box that does only one sound at a time to find many friends....
A perfectly legitimate reason. No: I'm not being sarcastic.
That's fine. I'm going to wait until one of the few US dealers that takes the plunge has got (6) sitting around in their warehouse, and then buy the whole lot off of them for a thousand bucks.
It does only (1) sound at a time. True. With mostly limited polyphony, depending on the plug......also true.
It sounds superb.
Bingo.....
Yep, the organ emulation in it is B4000 (I have the ASB); love-it-or-hate-it, it's accurate.
Yes, I got Hammonds. And tubes. And a 122.
I also own the B4 II. Good emulation. Which is better?
Hardware. More reliable for live use.
Run the plugiator in organ mode through an actual tube amp (and a Leslie speaker, if you got it, and fool your friends.
I hope that everyone hates it; I'm going to buy a bunch of them for next-to-nothing.

goldenanalog here.
Wow....I spoke too soon....I'm sorry.
Am experiencing some horriffic crashes
with the Plugiator; will be sending it back unless I can get it straightened out via updates (not too confident about that....I must also pass along that after some use, the Plugiators' encoders work inconsistently, and feel just plain cheap).
Until then, I recommended
NOT
buying the Plugiator
Plan B is to exchange it (with some cash) for a Blofeld.
I'll post with new information.
Sincerely, goldenanalog.

The reason you are reading bad things about the CME controllers is that they are inexpensive and very well built, and the competition is paying people to post trash about them on all the forums. I've got a number of this CME controllers of various types, and they are terrific. If anything, they are built like a tank and are therefore heavy to move around. That's about the only negative I've found.

Hmmm the people here with hundreds of posts were paid to relay bad experiences? Also, I see a post where you saw positive CME posting as an indication the OP worked for CME? Both are pretty strong claims, where's the proof/documentation of this? I own a CME and it is NOT all that, though it doesn't have the slot for this expansion. And I'm not paid by the competition.calex wrote:The reason you are reading bad things about the CME controllers is that they are inexpensive and very well built, and the competition is paying people to post trash about them on all the forums. Goldenanalog, here.
Sorry for the confusion:
The comment that I made in my last post about "cheap" encoders was made in reference to the Plugiator stand-alone unit, NOT the CME controller(s) used to host the Plugiator ASX, the plug-in board version of the Plugiator.
USE-AUDIO presently makes (2) Plugiator versions:
1.) A stand-alone unit that I own (1) of; with deep issues, including (but not limited to) cheap-feeling encoders, excessive crashing, frequent memory loss, etc.
2.) A plug-in board that enables the CME UF/VX lines of controllers with virtually the same power as the Plugiator stand-alone unit; minus the UI.

My Plugiator stand-alone unit works MUCH better, now.
PLEASE BEWARE of running BETA plug-ins on the machine...most (as in: almost all) of the problems that I was encountering with my Pluginator have been traced back to exactly that....
Even it's encoders are now responding properly. Go figure.
Anyway: It's love once again

Hey guys!
Missed this till now... has there been any news on the updates to the standalone box? I dont want to order one from Thomann and have to send it back all the way from Ireland to get midi sync and bugfixes...
And my main thing (like the OP) anyone have audio demos of the Vocoder PLEASE
What it boils down to - can this thing make me sound like a fuckin Cylon?

Dave
