Too bad the Malmsteen video is just a hair out of sync with the audio. That's so friggin annoying!
I just saw Tommy Emmanuel in concert on Thursday night. Unbelievable. Not many people can do this on an acoustic guitar (maybe only Mr. Emmanuel):

Actually he wasn't serious. I'm not sure he's ever serious. He wasn't even playing either. He's holding a little guitar toy that plays back a few samples to the pick up of his Warr guitar. He's a local guy but if you catch a few of his other tunes you'll realize he's actually quite good on the Warr guitar and performs entire solo shows with that guitar a drum machine, Lexicon JamMan and a handful of toys.
When he performs that song a story comes before it. One day he saw Malmsteen's crew walking around Fresno before a show and they had teeshirts on that said (on the front) "Yngvie who?" and on the back it said "f**king Malmsteen, that's who!"
Is he serious? I'd take Brian Kenny Fresno over that pile of pomposity any day.

Holy hot-buttered motherfuckers...he's not just fast, he's playing with genuine feel even when he shreds. Now where did my jaw go when it fell off of my lap...jjkinva wrote:Too bad the Malmsteen video is just a hair out of sync with the audio. That's so friggin annoying!

As for other guitarists doing that, I'd imagine that some of the better Flamenco players are capable of similar speed. And John Williams the classical guitarist might be able to do it.

I saw McLaughlin live a couple times at Yoshi's in Oakland, CA, which is a small enough venue that I was a few feet away from him. He has a pretty intense presence about him.
