Yea, he's got an ok voice. Don't think it's that RnB. Reckon it could be quite MOR.

Also think he needs to be able to belt it out a bit though, and it sounds like he'd lose his tuning straight away if he tried. He's a bit one level dynamics wise.

He's singing too near the mic so I'm guessing that he has a really quiet voice. You can also hear that there's no pop filter on the mic, so that might improve if he can't project his voice loudly. I think that's why a couple of people commented on his mic technique.

It's not a bad tone to his voice though, but he needs to sing maybe a little more straight rather than embellish it as he's going off pitch when he tries anything too complex.

Would be good to hear him sing to a backing to see what his pitching is like but he didn't drift too far off over the length of what he sang.

Hey Bunja: Your bro's got a pretty good voice. My comments would pretty much echo everyone else's on this thread: he just needs a pop screen & needs to learn mic technique. As robo suggested, he might do better singing along with backing tracks as singing a cappella is difficult without much practice. He definitely has a good voice to work with though...

By the way, MOR stands for Middle Of the Road and just implies popular music in this case, you know, Top 40 stuff.

Hey Bunja.... Little Bro sounds OK to me. Considering that's raw with no production. I know from experience that the more a singer practices the better their voice gets. Get him doing some vocal work outs by singing in lots of different styles and try and widen his range a bit. I once worked with a singer who started out fairly average and after a few months working on it she extended her range by over an octave and gained loads of power. Singing is a physical thing and the more you exercise your singing muscles the stronger and better they get.

There are a lot of singers not much better than that turn up in the charts every week.

PS. When are we gonna hear you singing????

Yea, absolutely. Get him practising.

MOR - middle of the road. Poppy, guitar and piano based stuff. Like pop rock but with not enough rock to make it pop rock :D .

If he's got a nice tone. Just needs some control. Getting him infront of the mic more would give him the experience. Get him doing some acoustic nights as well ;)
