hello,
brok landers wrote:but could you please explain in detail what i have to do to make the preview work?
still not work on ver 1.19?
1. once delete thmbnail cache
[XP] hidden file 'Thumbs.db' may exist on .knob directory
[Vista] delete by 'Computer' - 'property of C:' - 'disk clean-up'
2. let me know the result if installed from 'KnobMan119Setup.msi'
3. if not work, check the registry. values should be...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.knob\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}
default="{DACF1572-386E-4c4a-9B00-4E0EB6342970}"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{DACF1572-386E-4c4a-9B00-4E0EB6342970}\InProcServer32

I have all the files. I can send them to you. It will take a few days but then I will be off-line as I will have no net provider as I am going to be off line for some time, hopefully return at the end of September.

it works perfect in test mode ...
The black one there is very nice. Appears it would function almost transparently (meaning its not distracting) while being easy to locate its value within a gui.

I agree - will you share those .knob files with the community, Brok?

they're not added via setup here, sadly ...
i'm not familar with the registry, it's too risky for me to manually install them, i guess i'll leave it up to the point where the installer just does it reliably ...

download here (for public use also ... license: use whenever, wherever and for whatever, but mention me (bigtone) in an about box in the plugin/software ... please don't share the .knob files without my permission) ...

for those who are too lazy to go back one page ;), this is what you're dowloading:

I'd appreciate it if you could zip them and mail the archive. if that's fine with you I'll give you an email address via pm.
I could also temporarily mirror it until you're back online.

maybe... you use a non-administrator account on your PC?
(including change to administrator only when install)

if so, the entries are not added. ive just assumed that install by 'Administrator' and use by 'Administator'.

thx about .knob-file. i will check later.

mmm... curious... :?

from command prompt, CD to the directory of KnobMan,
(.msi default is C:\Program files\g200kg\KnobMan)
input following command.

C:\Program Files\g200kg\KnobMan>regsvr32 KnobBrowser.dll

that will show the messagebox "DllRegisterServer success", right?

By default "Thumbnails" is disabled on my machine ... when I have the urge to view thumbnails, I just use IrfanView, which does not leave a trail of "thumbs.db" files on my machine ... ;-)

btw, is it possible to add an option to the file export mechanism that allows exporting of knobs as single images (mainly, but not limited to, tga) instead of a strip? that would incorporate a naming scheme like knobname-[0001-000x].[suffix], of course. would be a great addition.

if there was some piece of software capable of doing this an easy way and without quality loss, I wouldn't say no to a hint :)

markus-

ps: no, I don't consider cropping the single knobs with gimp and repasting them as new images an easy way, although it works, of course :wink:
