Is there any limit to the length of a .wav
when you load it as a user defined shape in an Oscillator? (Length being time.)
TIA.
Wav size in Rhino?

No - it's limited by the size of your RAM. However, remember you're loading the wav into the additive generator, who's going to analyze it and resynthesize it. Eventually, what you get is a single-cycle waveform with the same harmonic contents than the initial wav file. Thus, if you try to load a long .wav file with, say, some music, the additive generator will most probably come up with noise.

Thanks, BT. I was thinking out loud, in general terms. But by your tech explanation, I see where a long, changing sample wouldn't work. Better to stick to short, sonically interesting samples!Big Tick wrote:No - it's limited by the size of your RAM. Yes. In a (currently unreleased
) preset I came up with very interesting results by extracting small portions of a choir sample. I generated 6 single cycle waves that way, and imported them into the generator for further processing.
