Hi,

I was wondering what is the most inspiring thing, that makes you want to
compose something?

For me it's the soundtrack of TV shows.

I hope the question is clear. :?

I agree that movie soundtracks usually get me going. Sadly, my next answers would be beautiful women and extreme mind-altering substances. It makes me a little sad that I can say that honestly.

Usually three things:

a person - I often compose and dedicate music to someone specific. Usually a friend of mine.

A concept - Sometimes I have an idea of a progression or just a simple melody in my head, or something I want to morph into a musical piece.

A visual scene - Sometimes the concept is visual. Like a dream I dreamed of, or a photo I saw. I wonder, "what kind of sound would acomplish this vision?", and then I try to make it up.

Many times these 3 things come together. A specific person in a specific scene, for instance.
Play fair and square!

Can't say anything about the mind-altering substances, but I do find soundtracks & beautiful women to be a great source of inspiration. Especially the ladies.

Plus for me, sometimes, a simple sentence, with some meaning.

For me, just listening to music that I love. If I spend an afternoon listening to great music, I will undoubtably have a cabeza full of idea by the end.

I like composing because my compositions are the one part of the world where everything does what I tell it to.

So I guess the answer to the question is 'Living in a world not of my own making'.

Or perhaps: 'My own tendency to be a control freak'.

People usually end up being one of my main sources of inspiration. I work with a couple of different vocalists with completely different styles and vibes and I write, well, to them.
