I've been sort of researching the synths ELO used, and it appears to be a substantial list, including minimoog, CS-80, Oberheim, Mellotron and ARP 2600. Anyone know of a more comprehensive overview of the instruments they used over the years?

ELO because they'd be able to see, whereas OMD would be blind.LBN wrote:Who would win if ELO and OMD got into a fight?

OMG,
I am a MASSIVE ELO fan - have all their albums and they were my #1 band, growing up, to listen to (next to The Beatles).
I feel my life would be complete if I ever got the chance to sit down and have dinner with Jeff Lynne. I consider him one of the most talented singers, song writers and producers of all time!
Pretty much my (creative) hero other than my parents. It is the ELO style that I achieve to create and more than likely my biggest influence in my song writing and composing (next to The Beatles).

I did not know this. How cool! As I have stated before, I owned an Atari TT when they were popular and did not know about this software - had I known it was written by an ELO alumnist I would have paid for it at almost any price!tconrardy wrote:a little OT: but the cellist of ELO ( Hugh McDowell) also created cool music software

I used to think most of the synthwork I heard on their albums was string synths, like the Solina, but only the Mellotron shows up in what I've been able to find. I was amazed at how many different synths are listed, plus those noted here. It would be interesting to know what was used on what. Got a bunch of ELO presets for your synths?Karmacomposer wrote:OMG,

Yeah..it was kinda cool emailing back and forth when we were working on the freeware release. I seem to recall he actually sent me the original discs to try out. Then he was able to make a version that did not involve a keydisc. Its a very cool program and I was able to get some very nice patterns from it. If you get steem installed, you can use it to control softsynths via midi yoke.Karmacomposer wrote:I did not know this. How cool!
