Brent, I'm not 100% with K2 or 3 and how it reads the loop data in wavs. If it's not working and you want to trobleshoot it you could try out YAMAHA TWE to embed this loop info and then open the file into K2/3. If it works with TWE then its probably the way that AA 'encodes' the loop points into the file thats going wrong.
BTW I got it working with Vsampler.

Well it's encouraging to see you got it working. It isn't working here for Kontakt. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the markers though?
I did try it with exporting the audio file in Reaper using the new cue markers, and it worked. Kontakt recognized it.
There's got to be a way to get this to work.

Thanks! Hehe, I also posted in both the Kontakt and the Audition forums(both forums are pretty dead it seems, so it may take a while).
So hopefully somebody will be able to answer SOMEWHERE, LOL!

You know Thonex, Kotori, Big-bob and various sample library producers come to vi-control, so I think you'll get an answer there.koolkeys wrote:Thanks! Hehe, I also posted in both the Kontakt and the Audition forums(both forums are pretty dead it seems, so it may take a while).

Yeah, it's a pretty great place. I actually post there myself, but I lurk more than I post. Some very knowledgeable people there for sure.

headquest: No prob. Dont ask me what the history is for the creation of that board. I know it has something to do with www.northernsounds.com/forum (another good forum, maybe not as good as vi-control though!
), and that you cant type the web adress to vi-control on northernsounds.com
Intrigues..
We cant complain having (probably) the worlds best Kontakt scripting wizards available there! www.vi-control.net/forum And I've gotten som really good advice from Dietz from VSL and others too. A nice place, yup!

Yeah, VI-control is a fantastic place, and actually quite open. They will even discuss the problems on the NS forums. I do post on NS as well, but apparently a while back Gary Garritan basically took the place over and the long arm of the law started to fall. You can't announce products there unless you are a paid advertiser. You can't announce group buys, even if you're not the developer. You can't post links to any other forums.
There was a mass banning period that caused many of the NS users to flee to safer grounds. Thus, we have VI-control. I'm probably missing several details, but that's the basics.

Its a 4.3Gb download, which is more than two month's worth of my bandwidth, so the demo is a little impractical.HERCsMusic wrote:Bones, either we are not explaining the process to you correctly, or you are not understanding it.
If you have not tried the demo, then all I can say is that you probably should so that you are speaking from actual experience.
All of this I understand perfectly well. What doesn't compute is the supposed greater ease with which this allows you to work. i.e. I can see where problems are in the waveform view but in CE2k, everything looked the same in the spectral view. It probably is a matter of trying it for myself but I don't see how it is easier than more traditional methods and, more importantly, I don't see how it can allow you to do anything that cannot be achieved by other means, which several people claim is possible.I think the fundamental difference here, that people are trying to articulate, is that the way the spectral information is presented, with a temporal and a frequency axis, allows you to select a specific frequency horizontally, giving you full control over the temporal axis.
Rubbish! We are talking about audio editors here, not sequencers, so the first thing you would do is select a time-region before applying a filter or whichever tool you want to use. That is probably the main thing that would determine whether I did something in my host or pulled up an audio editor. That's really something you can't do with conventional filtering. Normally you'd just stack a few filters across the waveform and it would affect the entire spectrum of the waveform, giving you no horizontal or temporal control.
Of course, the big difference is that in Photoshop, it is a visual representation of a visual image, so its the natural way to work. With audio, I question whether it is a valid paradigm. e.g. I asked a couple of times about "feathering" your selection but no-one has answered. You choose a filter with the appropriate slope to make your edit sound natural or to make it very precise, how does Audition handle this with spectral editing?headquest wrote:In Audition 3 there are many more tools, and you can pretty much treat an audio file like a photoshop picture...
Correct me if you think I'm wrong but what I see this being is something like the EQ curve in a plugin with those nice B-Splines. If you rotate that curve 90 degrees to align it with a spectrum axis of the view, you'd be getting a very similar picture, wouldn't you? Where I see it falling down though, is in not really seeing the slope of the notch you are cutting out [or isolating] very clearly. But if you can answer my question about feathering, in each axis, you might be able to clear that up for me.

Bones, I really don't know about feathering so cannot answer you. Someone of more experience may.
The demo is actually a 350Mb download. The extra 4GB is the optional loopology stuff. I did not see mention of a 4.3 GB download until I came to download after purchase, so not sure what is going on there.
I don't feel the need to be right about this, so I'd rather cease the vocal borborygms.
Like I said before 'A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.'
I think I've made my points clear enough and even if this feature is not especially revolutionary, it is different enough to warrant attention. I think it's pretty easy to understand and use and as far as I am concerned, it does make certain operations easier. Perhaps I simply prefer to relate to the visual aspect of it. It's not for everyone, sure. It's just a different tool.
DtBlkFx can do much the same thing. I never liked it because it never worked for me. But to be honest, I didn't buy Audition just for the Spectral view either. I like the workflow and the feature list. It works for me. I don't understand this need for some people to edit in their hosts either, since I prefer a separate program for that, but, it's whatever works for people I guess.

I hear you on workflow. I love CE2k but this is now the second time Adobe have screwed me over with cross-grades [or a lack thereof] after acquiring companies so they can go and get f**ked as far as I'm concerned. Especially as SF has come a long way towards addressing its shortcomings in recent versions, otherwise I might have made the effort to regress my new laptop to XP so I could keep running CE2k.

Now if I could just get those darn loop points working in Audition to use with Kontakt!
If ANYONE happens to know how to get it to work, please let me know!
